“delicious lunch!”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

walked in the door at 2:59pm, not realizing the restaurant closed for lunch at 3pm. The young lady hosting was most amenable and welcoming - and it was not an issue at all for us to be served lunch. So, we sat among other diners, in a charming & comfortable restaurant and enjoyed a delicious lunch.

Their "squirrel salad" (mine with blackened chicken) was very good and i would highly recommend; their daily special - a beef with melted gouda piled high atop a sourdough roll was also excellent.

We were delighted to learn the restaurant features live Bluegrass music on Friday evenings and for sure, we will return to this little gem in Saluda.

“Don't miss this one”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

Stopped in for a late lunch. We had a "crazy squirrel salad, no squirrel in it and a hot roast beef sandwich. Both were outstanding!! The restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere as well as a great staff. Can't wait to return and when we do it will probably on a Friday night when live music is provided.

“Two thumbs up!”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Charming place, food impeccable! Went with a group of about 12. This small town has no stop lights but so many very good restaurants. I had the grilled mountain trout over rice and vegetables. Delicious. Even the rice was perfect! The black bean hummus was excellent appetizer. For dessert, though we were full, shared a Carolina Pie, a chocolate chess, pecan confection.....yummy! All with pretty presentation as well. Somebody has a fabulous chef! The night was topped off by the banjo-playing local, who came with friends for dinner but happened to lead us in a few tunes! A true experience and fine dining in very unpretentious setting.

“Very pleasant”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We have reviewed this restaurant before, and we found the same good food and excellent service. The dinner that I wanted was an dish with eggplant stuffed with goat cheese, and that is the only cheese that I do not like. The waitress and the chef were very cooperative in finding a substitute that would work in that dish. It was wonderful; I cleaned my plate without meaning to. My husband's dinner was very good, too.

We will always make a visit to Saluda Grade when in the area. To us it's worth a drive from Flat Rock or Hendersonville, although we were staying right in Saluda, within walking distance.
