Cabin Fever

Really enjoyed our stay except for the acorns, twigs, etc. that kept hitting the tin roof and waking us up. Loved the rain on the roof. Have another weekend stay already reserved. Are trying Ma & Pa due to son in wheelchair.

Cabin Fever is a great vacation spot whether you are coming by yourself, with friends or family! It is tucked away in the woods on the side of a mountain. The Cabin Fever grounds are well maintained and the cabins have all the amenities needed. Christy and Scott and wonderful and full of great information about the area. Nestled into the woods but just a quick drive to amazing restaurants, hiking trails, waterfalls, and SO much more!!!! We couldn't have asked for a better place to relax and see beautiful sites! Thanks again,Cabin Fever for a great time!

To escaped the summer heat, we stayed in South Fork after school ended this year. We found Cabin Fever last fall and decided to return during summer break. Scott and Christi had obviously been very busy since our previous visit. They had renovated the cabins to include new king size beds with plush linens and comfy furniture. If it is possible to improve on perfection, Cabin Fever’s new duds make it even harder to leave. Our daughter and her furry companion spent hours on the newly remodeled playground and zipline, only coming up for air if thirsty or hungry. We have already reserved a cabin for Christmas break!!

We stayed at Cabin Fever several years ago to attend the Blue Ridge BBQ festival and decided to try them again this year. Our adult children and two grandchildren joined us and we rented two cabins. The cabin we stayed in was nestled on a stream amongst the beautiful blooming flowers. We loved sitting at the picnic table outside, building a fire, and cooking breakfast. The smell of bacon cooking was amazing. Our expectations for the cabin experience were definitely met. I do have a few comments that may help on future visits.
1. Make sure that you check the supplies in the kitchen. While I realize this is a cabin in the woods, the $100.00 plus I paid should include a cleaner kitchen. Quite a few of the dishes we were going to use were caked with food from previous visitors. Minimal supplies are provided and when we ran out of garbage bags and dish soap (we borrowed soap from the other cabin we rented) we had to track down the managers (there are no consistant office hours) to get more, more than once. Luckily we found a Family Dollar in town to get additional supplies to assist us with our cabin experience.
2. Consider providing clean linens already on the bed! My daughter is in a wheelchair and this is difficult for her to put linens on a bed. I know my husband and I traveled a long distance to get there and the last thing we wanted to do was make beds. (There are two options for linens: bring your own or use theirs; but put them on the bed yourself).
3. DO NOT leave food inside or outside. We did hear critters in the cabin a "scurrying" at night..
4. It was too warm to use the wood burning stove one night we were there, but the next night was chilly and we would've loved to use it (in fact, I went into town and bought sweatpants). . . but the managers told us they had not gotten around to cutting "stove" wood because it HAD been too warm. Would've loved to have that option provided!
5. The zip line was a blast for my children and grandchildren. However, we left a very expensive camera there by accident and when we went back to look for it, it was gone.
WATCH YOUR STUFF!
This truly was a great family time with just a few minor kinks! Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ma and Pa's cabin is newer. High Top is on a stream and farther up the mountain. May be diffic...

Had a great experience. If you are looking for quiet time and back to the basics this is the perfect spot. We stayed at Buzzard Roost Cabin on top of a hill. There are seven cabin to choose from. I was happy to be in such a remote location. No TV, no noise except for our children. Great family time... Porches, porch swing, rocking chairs, fire ring outside (can we say smores), wood burning stove in the cabin (to warm for that), full kitchen (basic appliances-no dishwasher but who needs it for a little get away), small park for the children. WiFi is available reception was good at our place. Due to my husbands business we had to have a small connection with the outside world, but we keep it limited so we could enjoy this vacation with only minor interruptions. It was so nice to not have to pry the children away from a TV. Plan on a return trip. Glad I just came across this great little place and decided to give it a try.

These cabins are located in Saluda, NC and there are several to choose from on the property. We happened upon these cabins while planning our annual apple picking trip and are so thankful we found this little gem! We stayed in the High Top cabin with four adults and one child and were very comfortable. The cabin was so warm and inviting. We used the wood burning stove during our entire trip (wood provided) and it kept us nice and warm. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook several meals in the cabin. There was a fire pit outside which we used to roast smores. We loved feeling like we were so secluded, but being only minutes from Saluda and about 20 minutes from Hendersonville. We are already planning our next trip and have planned to make this our choice for many more!

We decided to stay close to home to have a girls weekend away, and Cabin Fever fit the bill. Ma and Pa's cabin slept 6 (one on the couch) comfortably. The wrap around covered porch was wonderful - with rocking chairs, sofa and game table. It was too warm to use the wood burning stove, but wood was supplied, and there was also wood available for the outdoor fire pit. Picnic table outside, basic grill, fairly well-stocked kitchen, a bubbling stream off the deck, sunlight filtering through the leaves, and we didn't have a care in the world. Great outdoor pavillion for congregating a large group for bonfire or barbecue. We loved the horshoes, swings and zipline, and managed not to get lost on our short hike through hardwoods and rhododenrons. The cabin was clean, with basic supplies like a kitchen towel, toilet paper, bathmat and rubbish and recycling bags. We'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: There are a number of different cabins, different sizes, so choose one that fits your needs.
