We stayed at the castle Hotel in York early February 2014. It is a historic hotel, the oldest existing inland hotel in Western Australia. It Has traditional hotel accommodation as well as motel suites. Very friendly service.
Well, the hotel is old and that is very obvious. The rooms are spacious but in dire need of renovation. It looks and feels old and worn. No wifi!! No clothes hanger in the hotel room. Bed lamps did not work, no desk lamp, no telephone in the room, no hairdryer, in the bathroom just a small bar soap, no shampoo nothing else. Shower is in the bathtub which was dirty and partially covered by black mildew.
The curtains in the room were dirty and torn. The TV set was new, however.
External areas e.g. parking lot and swimming pool not well taken care of, looks dirty.
Dining, however, is surprisingly good. Interesting offer of country cuisine. Extensive wine and beer list. Breakfast just a plain continental one, nothing special.
Has bistro and public bar as well as Thirsty Camel drive thru bottle shop.
Despite all of that, the hotel is not cheap
We would not stay there again.
