Nice host couple. Warm bread a 2 eggs lol but she gave us 2 more when I said I want to buy some more for teh breakkie... Paying 150$ for one night, in 2 out 10 is quite expensive... We need to clean and dry the kitchen cutlery etc... Might be affordable for a family but expensive for a couple... Not an impressive commment "u r stepping now into my house" when we first arrived to meet Her, thought it was kind of accommodation and i was looking at the piano... I was exppecting more animals as well knowing it is a famous fancy farm accommodation lol

Room Tip: Expensive for what it is ....

We visited Lavendale Farm with another family with 2 kids and stayed in the "Lodge". The accommodations were fantastic. We could have easily brought 2 extra kids and still be quite comfortable. The beds were lovingly made up for the kiddies with a teddy bear placed on top of each pillow. The kitchen was very well stocked; even included a rice cooker.
Katherine and Merv, our hosts and farmers are very considerate and obviously take great pride in their business and their animals.
Please note that there isn't too much to do and see in the area but for a couple of days it was a nice getaway.

We have stayed for 4 nights. We were given warm bread and eggs on arrival which was very appreciated.
Our cottage Valencia Villa was nicely appointed with a small kitchen (no oven but cook top and microwave), lounge with TV/DVD player, two bedrooms (queen and triple) and a bathroom with a bath which we entirely enjoyed. I loved the queen bed with warm and soft bedding. There was a wood fire and wood was provided, not unlimited but more then enough for evening and morning fire, very easy to lit up.
We have enjoyed sitting on the verandah on the sofa/swing. There was also a bbq but we didn't use it.
The girls enjoyed animal feeding every day at 4:30 PM ( Angie the pig was the favourite) and the bonfire on two nights with marshmallow roasting.
The farm can accommodate 35 people so it can get quite busy during animal feeding and the bonfire during school holidays.
The farm is about 12 kms from York.

Room Tip: any of the three main cottages

We stayed in the Bali Hai with our 27mth old and 9mth old next door to our friends and their toddler. Farmer Merv and Katherine were so thoughtful with everything. The beds had teddy bears on for the kids, we received free yummy bread, they put our friends in a cottage really close by, and just feeding the animals (my daughter was able to help feed the animals and was given a wheel barrow ride!). We would highly recommend all facilities. It was lovely to have a fire in the house. A lovely outdoor area that was in the sun. A lovely playground. It is too bad we didn't make the communal camp fire to toast marshmallows as our girls fell asleep too early. Farm life tired them out on the first day, Would definitely stay again when next in the area.

Room Tip: Just be aware that the only heating in the house is through the wood fire.

We spent 3 nights at Lavendale farm this week and had a lovely time. It was very relaxing and accommodation was perfect for our small family The chalets were so clean. It was lovely to receive our fresh bread and eggs on arrival. We really enjoyed feeding the animals with Katherine and Merv. The playground next to our Bali Hai villa was perfect for our 16 month old son and for any children, with swings and a trampoline. We will be back for another visit very soon.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend break with our two children at the magnificent Lavendale Farm. We can not recommend it highly enough for couples who are looking a quiet retreat or for families who are looking to escape and experience a taste of country life with their children.

Accommodation-

We stayed in the well equipped and comfy cosy Bush Cabin. The hosts had thought of everything, the beds and pillows were fabulous, beautiful big bath towels, well equipped kitchen and a roaring log fire. We enjoyed eating our fresh welcome bread and eggs for breakfast looking out over the country side sitting on the verandah.

Sitting out on the verandah of an evening and enjoying the magic of the stillness and silence was superb.

Experience-

Along with lovely bush walks around the property, the children in particular enjoyed feeding time where Farmer Katherine and Farmer Merv, involved the children in feeding the animals and sharing their knowledge about each of them.

Hosts-

Warm, welcoming and respectful of our privacy. They went above and beyond to make our stay a little home away from home.

Room Tip: Bush Cabin - great for privacy, beautiful views and a lovely verandah so all weather can be enjoyed...

We had a lovely June long weekend away at this Farmstay with a group of 4 families. We stayed in the Bali Hai cottage which was lovely and clean and had a pot belly to keep us nice and toasty in the evenings! My oldest son (18 months) loved feeding the animals at 4.30pm every day. He especially loved Farmer Merv taking him and his girlfriends on a wheelbarrow ride during feeding time! The campfire on Saturday night was extra fun for the kids toasting marshmallows and the adults having a glass of champers! I do agree with Richard that it would be handy if each cottage had its own oven. Thank you so much to Farmer Katherine and Farmer Merv for a very delightful and fun stay! We will definitely be back again!
