While in Salisbury at a Main Street NC awards presentation this past week, we wanted to find a bar for a drink after the ceremony, and Ethos was recommended to us. Wow, what a find! The decor is so stylish and hip, we were really delighted! We sat at the bar and happened to be there on a Thursday night, when a huge list of cocktails, including some pretty interesting looking martini concoctions, were featured at only $5 per drink! One lone bartendress worked her magic at the bar, and was extremely busy, but made killer drinks and was cheerful and efficient. While we did not have anything to eat there, the food we saw being served looked mouthwatering! We would definitely recommend this stylish restaurant!

We came here for my mother-in-law's 89th birthday in late Dec. 2012. We were a party of 11. Not only did the chef/owner come out to greet us, he asked her what she wanted (which wasn't really on the menu, but relatively simple), agreed to make it for her and then didn't charge us for it! The rest of us had an assortment of appetizers and entrees, which were all served by a marvelous, friendly staff. There were several other large groups in the restaurant that might, but we did not wait or feel ignored. The Cheerwine BBQ short ribs were a favorite at our table. The Salisbury Peach chicken was also really good. Prices are very fair for food and drinks. Very nice decor with big water wall behind the bar. We will be back again soon, as this is easily one of the best, if not THE best, restaurants in town!

Had a rehearsal dinner there on October 5th. Only 16 people. They were ready for us and we a nicely prepared table. Every dish was delicious. The chef came out to visit our table to ask about our food. Good food, good service, and a lovely place.

A wonderful restaurant experience. This would not only survive but shine in NYC, an extremely competitive foodie town. The decor is beautiful - panels of material hung like waves across the ceiling, dark walls, wooden floors and tables, a baby grand piano. Friday and Saturday nights there's a piano player, other nights jazz played over the sound system for some great background music.
Chef Vern was formerly sous chef at Tavern on the Green in NYC and has years of experience in Europe. He works his magic with local ingredients - grits, Cheerwine (a cherry cola) reduced into a bbq sauce, kale, going upscale in his recipes and presentation. Caesar salad with deep fried grits croutons, shredded pork on johnny cakes, shredded ribs over marchiengo cheese grits, pork tenderloin with cognac mushroom sauce. Makes me wish I lived there just thinking about the great food the kitchen puts out. The appetizers lend themselves to tapas style dining and the entrees are all reasonable - about $15 - $20. This is a locals place, casual attire is welcome, though the atmosphere is fine dining caliber. If you want to dine leisurely just advise your wait person - no bringing out your main course while you're still enjoying your salad or appetizer.
We went back for a second visit during our brief stay in the area.
