DNP is a great wildlife and natural experience. The employees are well educated and underpaid for their jobs, but they stay there because they love nature and wish to educate the public abour our beautiful world. On the side,if you have young children wishing to experience a "fair - like" endeavor, there you have it. One may camp, picnic, be educated, and entertain children all within 12 to 24 hours. Enjoy what the tax payers of Rowan County have provided for all!

Lots of activities here. From a train ride to the carousel this park has many options. My favorite part is walking arm in arm with my husband around the lake. It can get loud at times with lots of kids there but it is a lot of fun with lots of smiling faces.

Great park for kids. They have a handicap playground and swings that are wheel chair accessible. They have a separate playground for young children that is enclosed and a playground for the older kids. For a small fee, you can play mini golf, ride a small train, or the carousel. They also have a small splash pad (when it is working). They have a petting zoo and a few animals (additional fee). There are numerous walking trails and a pond where you can fish or rent paddle boats. Check out their website for more information. They have a gem mine but we haven't ever tried that. My kids love this place. I would say a good park for 10 and under.

We live Dan Nicholas Park. It has activities for all ages. Our grandsons love the reptile exhibit, zoo area, splash pad, gem mine and playground areas. It is a frequent destination for school field trips from nearby schools. It is well worth the trip!!!
