I've looked at Stonehenge in Wiltshire many times and asked "How?" The Esperance Stonehenge made me ask "Why?".
It's an incredible granite scale model on a beef farm and interesting to see what it would have looked like when it was complete. A lot of work has gone into this replica and it has even been designed to align with the solstices in Esperance.
The lady we paid was very knowledgable and friendly and its a modest fee to enter and only 10-15 minutes from Esperance. Like most of Australia there are a lot of flies so take something to swat them away!
Educational for children and to marvel at how the early Brits erected the original without cutting equipment, trucks and cranes. Worth going to see if only to say "Why would you do that"????
Thank you for a wonderful review, we appreciate your kind words for staff and our Esperance Stonehenge. We hope that it will encourage many other tourist to visit us . Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. Jillian Kim and Sue at Stonehenge
It was great to see something in real size that we'd not otherwise get to see :) . The flies were full on as they always are in WA. The shop had lots to sell at reasonable prices.
Thank you for your review it is appre4ciated
This is even more interesting than the real thing, because it is complete, and also because you can walk right around inside the stones (as you could at one time at the one in UK until people started defacing it, and the numbers of visitors became astronomical) It is made from local granite (for some reason before I got there I assumed it would be made of fibreglass) I was the only one there on a bleak afternoon, Gillian in the office (the owner) was extremely pleasant and interesting to chat to as I waited for showers to clear. The only thing missing from the interpretation signage was something more about the original monument, why/when was it built, theories as to how, etc (Aliens did it, didn't they??)
Well worth a visit but don't forget the Aerogard ...
Thank you for taking the time to visit us here in Esperance WA. Your review is greatly appreciated.
Not far from town and worth a look while in town. Interesting to see as it is a exact replica of the real thing before it fell over. $10 per person which I thought was ok
Set on private farming property small charge to see.
Interesting site.
If warm make sure you you have fly repellent.
As we've visited the real Stonehenge in England, we thought it would be interesting to see it as it was in the beginning. Quite awe inspiring to stroll amongst the huge stones and even sit on and touch them - something one cannot do in England.
Thank you for taking the time to review us at Esperance Stonehenge. So pleased you enjoyed your visit.
