Esperance Seafront Caravan Park
Reviewed January 20, 2014 via mobile

Having been touring southern WA Esperance was our main destination and having been told how amazing it was we were extremely disappointed. We drove through the town which was going through a heap of roadworks so nothing much to look at and when we got to the campervan park we were even more disappointed. As they we so full we were put on the end of a car park facing the main road on an overnight
block ( we were staying for 4 nights ) . We decided that we weren't going to stay here for the remainder of our stay so in the morning we went looking around for better camp sites and found a really nice one with a pool and lots of grass. We went back to see if we could get our money back and surprisingly they were really apologetic and gave us back our money. So we moved and really enjoyed our stay in Esperance. Even if we were offered a better block we probably would have refused it because it was very cramped, the amenities block was awful and the beach front, which was their main selling point, was having a lot of work done so the view was just scaffolding. Avoid this place, there are many other nice parks in Esperance.

Great location opposite bay. Walk/bike path along bay into town. Town is well serviced with variety of shops, sports, camping stores, Dome, Chinese restaurants, Red Rooster and McDonald's. There is also a cinema screening the latest movies.
Caravan park has large shady sites, with shade cloth ground sheets. Very quiet at night and reasonably priced. Laundry facilities are also available. There is a grassy area at front of caravan park for playing with a ball etc.

I have to agree with most of the critiques on this site, amenities not great, laundry not great, and it seemed that the front of the park was the old section, where when we arrived, was very cramped, even though it was a quiet week. I had a walk around and further up the hill where the tents and camper trailers go,seemed quite good grass, and very quiet, I thought I would approach reception and ask if we could move up the hill, expecting the worst, I was very surprised, when I was told I could go anywhere, phew what a relief, thought I would be in for a lecture. The amenities close were closed but a short walk to the next one was OK. I guess the place needs a big overhaul, to come up to the standards required these days, but what a great location to start this project....

When we pulled in, in our 4berth motorhome I was a little disappointed and I was more disappointed when we got to our plot which was very cramped with vans and campers at all angles. There wasn't one blade of grass on the ground just dirt! The toilets and showers were not too bad and although the launderette was cheap the machines didn't clean too well because they were really old models. One thing they did have was a beautiful beach but you had to walk a way down it to get to the best part which was stunning.

This park was a dissapointment seeing it is a Top Tourist Park. The amenities are in need of updating and a code system for only those staying in park. We saw people wonder off the street to use the amenities, PLUS we had a barbeque stolen which was in fact chained up and locked. They state that no personal clotheslines to be used, however, the ones supplied need re-wiring with nylon rope as the wire ones are rusty. The rubbish bins are always full and smelly, not a pleasant experience. Next is the playground, this is a hazard for all children, am surprised it has not been condemned. The reception area is very unwelcoming. Could not recommend this park.

The Seafront Caravan is in a good location on the bay and is about 2 Km's out of town or 20 min walk.
The Seafront does not use it's best asset the view at all !, The front of the park with the best views is a children's play ground with the camping areas and cabins well back with no views!!
There is only one BBQ area that we could see and that was stuck in the corner of the park.
The park mainly caters for campers and I think a lot of these sites need an upgrade.
The staff were not very friendly, welcoming or helpful in any way, not really happy to give advice on directions re the area.
The shop had very little stock.
My husband and I stayed in one of 2 cabins on the back fence of the park beside a road with views of a corrugated iron shed and 2 water tanks. There are no BBQ's in the area.
The 2 bedroom cabin itself was clean spacious and well equipped .
The main bedroom was a good size and the bed was comfortable, the 2nd bedroom had 2 single beds.
The sitting room had a lounge, kitchen table, TV and DVD and the kitchen is well equipped and
has an oven and microwave.
The bathroom was clean with a good shower and separate toilet.
It seems strange that the parks most expensive assets are at the back of the park with no views.
The Seafront is in a great location but they need to brush up on there customer service.

Room Tip: Cabins are at the back of the park with no views.

Met by staff who were friendly, given site which was generous in size with lots of tress, however, the ground matting was ripped and beyond repair and needed replacing, and the site was littered with tent pegs which could have caused damage to tyres.. Had to walk a long way to use ablution blocks which were clean and in reasonable condition. There was a smaller ablution block close by, which was closed and appeared to be used for storage only. Inconvenient in poor weather conditions. Has a car wash bay, with good water pressure and free. Not far into townsite and small industrial.
