Bright itself is a beautiful piece of Victorian Alpine country so to have the opportunity to stay in these beautiful little cottages ( Specifically Wood Smoke) right next to the mighty ovens river which flows endlessly all night and day was a real treat, from the moment we arrived we were greated by our host Alistair with a big smile and welcome as he guided us in the dark to our little gem of a cottage. On opening the door first thing we noticed was the wood heater as well as the split system. The shower was awesome with really hard pressure. Bed was comfortable and with cooking facilities made for a really great weekend. there was plenty of wood chopped up ready to go as we couldnt wait to be staring at the Embers. As it was nighttime arrival we decided to stay indoors for the first night by the wood heater with our Wine and cheese platter we had prepared for the trip. nice way to spenrd first night. next day we walked along the ovens river into town and walked around the local shops and cafes. the locality of the cottages is about a comfortable 8-10 min leisurely walk. so we booked a table at the Alpine hotel for our anniversary Dinner later in the day. A great place to base yourself if not for the snow but also the wineries are abundant in the area (King Valley wine region) with Brown Bros up the road 50 mins for a great winery lunch. this cottage is just Superb.

Room tip: Read all info brochures as there is so much to see and do beside the snow.

We had a 2 night stay in the Stonewall cottage which is a 2 bedroom cottage. The location is perfect because it is only 5 minutes walk from the Town Centre, it is set in an attractive garden surrounded setting, it would look beautiful in the Autumn, we were a bit early for that! The room was clean & comfortable, all amenities supplied, the bathroom shower was very noisy when it was turned on, it needs some attention! Also there was 1 window in the bathroom without blinds which I found a bit strange, the bath is too high to step in & out of, especially if you have a disability, & there was not enough bench space. The owners are friendly & very courteous, I would have liked another day there but no availability for that extra night! All told it was a great place to stay!:)

Thank you for you review and apologies for the delayed response. We do have 2 cottages with 'walk in' showers for those with disabilities should it be required. Our showers all have great pressure which results in a perhaps a little more noise but has been looked at since your stay in March.
We do hope to see you again in the future.

We stayed in the Stonewall Cottage, two bedroom, more than we needed, but that was all that was available. Well appointed, quiet location, decent off street parking, welcoming hosts. The cottage has a log fire combustion heater if required in the colder months and a split system aircon if you're lazy and don't want to light the fire. Well appointed kitchen with all the utensil, cutlery and crockery you would need including pots and pans. The bathroom has a shower over the spa bath (Not good if you are aged or infirm and have difficulty lifting your leg as you need to negotiate a two foot rise to access the bath). Great water pressure. If you like a dark bedroom bring eye covers, the blinds are thin and allow a lot of light through. Flat screen TV, DVD player and board games in the lounge area. Only a five minute walk to the town centre and you can access the Canyon Walk, via the rear of the property. A little bit taken back with the request in the room handbook that being a self contained unit, we should leave it as we found it. When I'm paying $180 a night I expect to be catered for and having to clean up after myself is not what I want to do. Of course don't trash the place, but to have to wash all the dishes, put them away, put the rubbish out etc, is, in my opinion a bit much for a paying customer. I don't have to wash my plate after using it at a restaurant and don't think I should have to do the same in a unit I am relaxing in on holiday.
Apart from that little rant, Merrimeet is a wonderful, quiet location to spend time at whilst in Bright. Highly recommended.

Room tip: Any room would be suitable as the location is very quiet

Hi there - i am sorry for the delayed response. Thank you for your review.
We do have cottages with 'walk in' showers should it be necessary. I note your comment on leaving the cottage clean. It is there as a reminder to guests that we do not service the rooms during your stay as they the are self contained units. We will of course remove any rubbish etc at the end of your stay.
We do hope to see you again in the future.
Kind regards.

Came here for a weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Was very relaxing and accomodation was clean neat and met all our needs. The river walk into town is very scenic and well worth the short walk from the rear of the property. There was a bbq on site nestled in a quiet bush like corner of the property which was great amenity. Will definitely return . But must say my only complaint was having people stay in the apartment above which did cause interruptions due to the early rising and late night constant thudding whilst being occupied.

Have stayed now a few times at Meerimeet and always leave feeling really well rested. I also feel great about supporting a business owned and operated by a really great young couple Kellie and Alistair. They work hard to combine family and a high standard of hospitality.
Meerimeet is clean, practical and offers thoughtful little touches, making you feel welcome and relaxed immediately.
I love that there is always fresh milk in the fridge for the much needed cuppa after a long drive. There is a generosity in their spirit, wood for fires, lovely coffee and great electric blankets in Winter.
The location is brilliant in terms of both beauty and proximity to town.
My family members also love Meerimeet and it's number one for us in Bright.
Thank you Kellie and Alistair. Wish you all the best, you deserve it. From Sharon, Waseem and various family members.
