This is a very big motel positioned around large grassy area which our room opened onto. It was like stepping back into the 70s – high pine ceiling, brown patterned bathroom tiles – but everything was clean and in working order. A small thing – no biscuits were provided on the tea/ coffee tray. The central garden can get noisy with the pool and BBQ but no-one stayed up too late when we were there. Don’t trust the Google map to find this motel – it places the motel on the other side of town. It was a 15 minute walk into town – but being holiday time, walking was preferable to finding a car park.

Check In/Out was easy. High speed Internet was very slow. Fridge not cooling quickly, set on 7, when I phoned reception I was told it should be on a lower number so I turned it down to 2 which turned it off? Bed comfortable. TV flat screen, worked fine. Air-con quiet & efficient. Motel seems to have been built in the 60's, very old tiles in bathroom, old decor but OK for a short stay. Good waterflow in shower.

Room Tip: All rooms face swimming pool as motel is in a U shape. We were in room 6, which had 1 queen bed &...

Booked over the internet and were the only couple staying in the motel but we were given what I feel was the worst room in the motel. It was dark even at mid day. Room 4 has only one window and a glass door which is in a corner of the U shape layout and under a verandah. All other units have 3 or more and are not hemmed in by the corner, so are lighter and bigger. Why did we get that unit? Because it is convenient for the cleaner as the the service store is next door. We stayed 2 nights and on the 2nd night another guest arrived. Where was he placed? Next door to us in the 2nd closest room to the service store. We listened to his call to home on his mobile thru the wall and luckily he was a quiet sleeper. This was poor management putting the customer last and I would not recommend this motel because of it.

Room Tip: Do not accept room 4!

After booking this hotel which I picked as suppose close to town with wifi internet available. We arrived early and was given the key to our room only to find that the cleaner was still cleaning. We returned later and where unable to get internet connection for most of our 2 day stay. When we asked the manager we were told that too many people are using it and to try later. The TV would loose channel reception all the time and we were unable to get any uninterrupted viewing of any programs during our stay. The location was a drive out of town and would have been unable to walk into town as it was the first hotel you came across entering Bright. The room was comfortable for what we paid.

I booked a weekend away on my own in Bright so I could go horseriding in Mt Beauty. The high country motor inn got pretty good reviews here and it was comparably cheaper to other accommodation.
The room I had was really quite large, with lounge area, desk area and decent bathroom. The room is quite dated and kitsch, with late 70s colour scheme and fitout - so don't expect much there. Having said that, it was very clean and tidy, and I wasn't expecting super modern or boutique stuff.
Reception was really handy for recommending food, but I pretty much didnt deal with any staff so could actually comment on service, except to say it met my needs (which were virtually zero).
The map may not show it, but it is a 20 min walk in to town and as I was on my own, it wasn't all that great late at night. If you are solo, I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to the town centre so you aren't wandering on your own on dodgy footpaths.

Bright is a gorgeous town though, and at the rear of the hotel is the link to the river path, I recommend taking that amble if you are around during the day. And then stop at Bright Brewery.

One final thing, the room was large and the ceilings are high. if you were staying here in mid-winter, I think it would take ages to heat the room. I was here in crispy spring and still needed heat.

A one night stay wasn't enough here. The motor inn is probably not as centrally located as some would like as we had to drive into the township to have dinner and browse. Our room was basic but very comfy. The gravel drive was noisy as cars came and went and the walls were paper thin which enabled us to hear those in units next door.
On the other hand the room was comfortable and had plenty of storage space for those who might be undergoing mountain hikes, skiing or cycling. A large hanging area for wet clothes in the bathroom area. A separate bath to the shower would be great for soaking those tired muscles after a day on the slopes. Breakfast was basic but at extra cost a good Aussie breakfast could be purchased.

Room Tip: Not luxurious but comfortable enough. Just don't expect a good nights sleep.

We stayed on a very cold August weekend. The bathroom was absolutely freezing, the tiled floor as cold as ice. The room itself was just warm enough with the heater running full time. The bed had a single blanket, no Donna and an electric blanket, which is fine to get the bed warm initially bu of course can't be left on all night. In the warmer months it would be quite ok, I imagine.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else in the depths of winter, unless the cold doesn't bother you.
