Charming, clean B&B in an old firehouse in downtown Rutherfordton, NC. Pleasantly decorated clean rooms with modern baths. Tons of common space that is very nice and includes an outdoor area. Great, helpful staff. Great breakfast! Highly recommend a stay, here!

I stayed at The Firehouse Inn for a site visit in preparation for an upcoming work event in Rutherford County. It was a wonderful "home base" for traveling all across the area and the charm of the historic inn, the warmth of the staff, and the attention to detail made for a wonderful stay. My family joined me for the weekend and we opted to make a mini-vacation of our time in Rutherford County. The Innkeeper adjusted my room prior to my arrival to ensure the best experience for me and my family. Our room had a loft with two twins beds, which were perfect for our oldest two (8 and 6 years old), and we brought a pack and play for our two-year old. The excitement of staying in a historic firehouse was a big plus for our children and the attention to detail in decor gave us plenty of ideas for our own home. Breakfast was creative, delicious, and enjoyable (did I mention we have three children). We'll certainly be back and are grateful for such attentive and thoughtful owners/staff.

I live very near the Firehouse Inn in Rutherfordton and have used the inn many times for events and have even stayed there once. They are delightful, warm and welcoming. The history of the inn is embedded into the history of this delightful wonderful little treasure where the smokies rise from the piedmont.

Room Tip: There are no tips, all the rooms are great. You can't go wrong at the Firehouse.

Rutherfordton is a quaint town with very few lodging options so we were delighted to be recommended The Firehouse Inn. It is conveniently located to walking distance to the downtown area and restaurants and has wonderful curb appeal. The true beauty is inside the refurbished, historical building. It is SO beautifully decorated and offers luxurious comfort. We were treated with genuine hospitality and absolutely loved our spacious suite. We will definitely stay here again and are so grateful for such first class service and accommodations.

This was our first visit to western North Carolina. We were more than thrilled with stunning architecture and interior design of what can only be described as a gem of a B&B (and I rarely write reviews quite this raving!). Rutherfordton is a very small town, and from the outside, the Firehouse Inn just looks like a plain brick building. Once you open the front door, however, the architecture of this building, built in the 1920s as a town hall/firefighters' hall, is just beautiful. The room we stayed in (#2 or #3) has a ladder leading to twin beds in a loft (great for kids!). We loved the working gas fireplace. The bathroom featured a separate vanity area which was also quite nice.

Walking down the hall from our room, there is a very large dining/lounge/living room area, also decorated beautifully. A wonderful breakfast, included in the rate, was made from scratch (fresh fruit, French toast one day, baked egg dish the other day) and served in this room. There were also little muffins available all day, a water pitcher with fresh lemon or lime, and a Keurig coffee machine.

My only caveat has to do with this area. If you are staying in Rutherfordton on a Sunday or Monday night, plan your lunch and dinner options ahead of time. There are few local dining choices, and many restaurants are closed Sunday or Monday night. You can grab sandwiches from a Subway type place, or go to a diner, but if you are looking for more upscale options, you have to drive a bit (we had a wonderful dinner in Asheville Monday night, but that's a 45 minute drive away). If you factor this in and plan a bit, this is a lovely place to stay.

THe Firehouse Inn is a great Bed & Breakfast. The rooms are so comfortable you may not want to leave. Sandy is just great. Full of information on the historic building and the area. Breakfast was in a beautiful room that made you feel so welcome. We went for our 44th anniversary and will probably be back for our 45th. The only problem is you have to be able to walk steps to get to the rooms. There is no elevator. Otherwise I would certainly recommend the Firehouse Inn for a weekend away.

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw were really nice. I think they are all great.

The owner was very helpful as my sister needed a handicap room. There are stairs and I did not know that when I booked. The breakfast was delicious. There are really no fine eateries close by. YOu will have to drive 4 or 5 miles for other than fast food. The Inn is charming and the history attached made it very special. Would certainly recommend it for a lovely facility.

Room Tip: The handicap room was really a suite, very large and easy for a handicap person to access. The owne...
