Unfortunatley i was only able to get 1 nights accomodation at Stonewall cottages, but it was well worth it. So quite, so relaxing, so peacefull..

Great breakfast items to cook at your own leisure, great views, and the ducks were great to watch!!! Make sure you stay atleast 2 nights. We stayed in the hideaway Cottage, and going back again in october 2009 and staying in spa cottage. cant wait.

My partner booked 'Hideaway Cottage' for 3 nights to celebrate my 40th birthday.

I was blown away by the location, especially the lake right in front of the cottage, complete with ducks, moor hens and assorted other birds who visited us regularly.

The cottage itself has every convenience you could possibly want, great breakfast supplies to prepare at your leisure and lovely touches like bathrobes, real fire, port & wine included and lovely local produce which we didn't manage to get through as there was so much of it. I loved the key code instead of a key so you have complete privacy and can arrive and leave as you please.

There are many places to sit and enjoy the surroundings and if you go, check out the night sky from the lakeside, far away from any street lights.

Tanunda is a stunning town with so many wineries close by and I'd highly recommend any of the Stonewell cottages as a break from busy life or a special celebration.

Our son who lives in Sydney Australia booked 'The Hideaway' one of the few Stonewell Cottages. We were visiting them from England and were all spending 5 days wine tasting and golf for the men,Two days were in the Clare Valley [Country Club, very nice incidentally!] and then three days in Barossa Valley.I don't think I can add much to the praise of other reviewers but it was 'AMAZING',the most relaxing wonderful place we have ever been. The rowing boat on the lake for our use added to the fabulous atmosphere of the place as did the cute little ducks who visited us every day for their breakfast. The cottage itself was fitted out beautifully and every need was catered for.
Our son and his partner have very busy high powered jobs and this was great for them to be able to switch completely for a few days. They are used to going to lovely impressive places but they thought it was wonderful too.I would love to go there again[especially now we are back in freezing cold England] and hope I do one day.

My husband and I had 3 nights in Cupids Cottage. The setting is very romantic and relaxing. The cottage had everything you needed plus more. There were chocolates, port and ample breakfast provisions on arrival. Everything had been thought of including candles, DVD's & CD's, books and even breakfast food for the ducks. The king size bed was wonderful and the spa bath was great! I would highly recommend for couples as a romantic getaway. An amazing place to stay!

Spent two nights in Cupids Cottage and found it all that their website set it out to be. Spoke with the owner just before arrival, got the key code for the door and found the cottage in perfect shape with all the food needed for 2 days of great breakfasts, as well as some food for the ducks.

One winery owner we wanted to visit was out of the country during our visit and sent some wines over to Stonewell for us to sample, which were set up next to the complimentary bottle of their own wine.

Bed was very comfortable, tv and kitchen appliances worked just fine, and the shower had good pressure and was refreshing. Our first "self-catered" B&B, and no issues whatsoever. The best part was the semi-isolation, which let you sit outside in your robe in the morning and enjoy a quiet cup of coffee with nobody in site. One morning they were planning to spray the vines, and they came by in the afternoon to notify us in advance.

Only unexpected negative was the lack of warning about ants. We took back some petit fours after dinner one night and left them (in a box) on the counter rather than in the fridge, and found a long and healthy trail of ants enjoying them in the morning. Cleaning up the ants (with boiling water) took a bit of time. We still found some ants the next day, which attacked our partially eaten (and otherwise outstanding) bread that was part of our breakfast provisions. The bread was sealed in its plastic bag and then in the bread bin, but the ants still got to it. A little warning would be nice to other guests, but it certainly wouldn't deter us from returning or highly recommending Stonewell to others.

My husband and I stayed for three nights in early January. What a wonderful find. We live in New Zealand and this was our first trip to South Australia. This was an awesome place to stay in the Barossa and I am so thankful I found it on Trip Advisor. The cottages are just beautiful as is the location. We stayed in the Spa Retreat 2 and just loved it, especially the private spa rooms. What a lovely touch. I was concerned initially, as it was one cottage divided into two, that we wouldn't feel private and totally alone but needn't of been concerned. We didn't see or hear anyone next door at all in the 4 days we were there. The location is so beautiful that we decided to eat dinner in on 2 occasions and used the barbacue in the garden. This was my favourite time. The ducks came to sit at our feet and keep us company. The Spa Retreats are definately large enough for 2 people for several days without feeling cramped. The cottages and setting are very romantic and every little thing is thought of by the owners to make your stay truelly special. Their wine is beautiful and wished we could have bought more home with us. I highly recommend staying here and will make it our goal to come back to South Australia especially to stay here.
