We dont agree with the above comments! What a tranquil hidden hideaway on The Famous Jacobs Creek.
Totally private and the rooms were delightful. We had a 'to die for' degustation dinner on one of our nights and were recommended to all the best places to visit in the valley. Accommodation included King Size beds with loads of feather pillows, polished floors, beautiful gardens, breakfast provisions, (but they told us the breakfast would soon be a buffet in the Pavilion by the Creek)which we think would be a great alternative.
Clearly an adult-only upscale retreat offering picturesque seclusion.

Tried to booked a room with them and received no confirmation.
Finally contacted them to ensure no room was booked.
Owner confirmed that was fine. They then proceeded to charge me for a room I didn't stay in.
Uncontactable and poorly run. Do not be fooled by there 'nice' website.

we arrived on the 1st night of our honeymoon and were told by a letter pinned to the garden fence at the retreat that they had double booked ourselves !! the note told us that we had been booked into another place not far away !! this cottage which was not what we had wanted, it was self catering in the middle of now where. it took us 30 mins to drive to this cottage along unsealesd roads in a porshce boxter we had hired, not a very good ride i can tell you !!!!!

did not stay the night and went to the visitors ctr and booked into a place called peppers resort in tanunda, which as it turned out the best place you could have wished for on our honeymoon, it was a blessing. the jacobs creek manager rang me at peppers after the local toutrist board which he is not a member of, reccomended he should ring us and apologise. we are still awaiting our deposit back ????

double booked we had it booked for 8 months prior to us arriving.

do not give them a second look !!

The venue is a group of restored winery buildings around the owners’ house at the end of a dirt track a few miles from the Barossa town of Tanunda. They are recently restored and the gardens have been nicely landscaped to produce the image of rustic charm. The rooms ($295AUD per night) are nice (with a large Laura Ashley style bathroom) and even better if you are happy with the other room inhabitants who no doubt like eating you and your food (personally I have no problems with insects or the local possums). However, my wife and I both felt that the faux rustica had gone a step too far. The rust and dust seemed false a la Disney or Las Vegas but maybe less vulgar. Our perception was not helped by the very laid back nature of the owners. When we arrived at lunchtime there were no directions to the owners’ house except it said "private residence" on their garden gate with a bell and mobile number to attract attention. We rang the bell and then rang the mobile number to no avail. We then decided to go back into town and called every half hour for a couple of hours again to no avail. We went back to the "retreat" late afternoon and finally bumped into someone who showed us around to the outbuilding we stayed in. (There was a note on the building door but you would have had to be very nosey to have found it). We paid a princely sum for a wine matched degustation menu which was served on our veranda from 6pm onwards. Eight small courses (and only four wines) of fairly reasonable but not notable food later for $330AUD and it was 8pm in the middle of nowhere (this was very, very expensive for Australia). I think the problem here is that my wife and I are not burnt out or unromantic, so to us, it was like sitting in a rusty, dusty shed close to some of the local fauna in the middle of nowhere. As each room has a kitchenette, the owners stock your fridge and you cook your own breakfast. This is great if you want to do this, but a surprise bearing in mind the cost and the absence of regular B&B facilities (such as someone to do the check-in). The website gives the impression it is a high class boutique hotel type of venue, but it is really self-catering designed around the owners’ lifestyle (which is fair play if not absolutely communicated).
