We stayed at Blickinstal for 2 nights on our first trip to the Barossa. We had a wonderful stay. Sue and Mark made us feel extremely welcome. The accommodation was immaculate and the grounds were lovely to walk around and enjoy. Breakfasts and afternoon tea were delicious, we especially enjoyed the fresh eggs in the morning.

When we go back to Barossa, we will definitely stay here again!

We stayed in the Dove Cote studio, owned by the Blikinstal Retreat folks. The studio was delightful, if a little 'cutsie'...it had all we could want - the kitchen, tucked away behind cupboards was fabulous and we were able to cook up a storm with the generous provisions left for us for breaky. Sadly we didn't have time to use the spa!! The only thing we would have changed would be some screen doors - as the only 'air' into the room was by two large screenless doors, we were forced to sleep with one door open (warm night in Tanunda that night) which felt a little insecure. It was perfect for our needs - central to Tanunda, onsite parking, clean and fresh and lots of lovely little additions to make it feel very welcoming!

Myself and my wife had the pleasure of staying at the Blickinstal Retreat for 3 nights in Nov 2012 while we visited wineries in the Barossa Valley.

We were made to feel very welcome by Sue & Mark and nothing was too much trouble for them. This was part of a 3 week trip to Australia and Thailand for us so I wanted everything to be as nice as possible as it had been a year in the planning.

We booked the Blickinstal based on previous reviews and they weren't wrong. It was a very enjoyable stay and we met some new friends while we were there. The food is all home cooked and was lovely we particularly looked forward to afternoon tea and cakes at 4pm.

The accommodation was spotless clean and we very much enjoyed the complimentary bottle of Shiraz and Port (3 night stay special I think but could be wrong)

We'd been to the Hunter Valley back in Nov 2004 but preferred the Barossa Valley, it is a gorgeous part of the world and if we are ever back I wouldn't hesitate in booking the Blickinstal again. It's an ideal location for a huge range of wineries in a very small proximity.

A big thank you for Sue for making our stay a special one and I hope you continue to keep busy.

Best Wishes
Jonathan & Caroline Ward

Stayed here 4 nights and would have been happy to still be there!!!! Spotless accommodation, wonderful views and each day starting with Sue's yummy cooked brekkies.....a bonus was the "OMG" afternoon teas that we made sure we were back for each day....how good was that banana bread and butterscotch sauce!!!! Sitting overlooking the barossa vines as the sun went down was 'really difficult'!!!! Free use of the laundry was great and WiFi, as too the huge selection of DVD's to select from. If you stay for more than 2 nights you get a bottle of red wine too!!!! Wouldn't hesitate in returning and/or recommending Blickinstal....Many thanks and wish you, Mark and the kids a happy Xmas/New Year

Room Tip: Wouldn't even consider other B&B's after staying here....doubt if you could beat this va...

Blickinstal is hard to fault:
Spotlessly clean
Private
Huge and delicious home cooked breakfast and afternoon tea
Slightly dated decor, but very comfortable
Many thanks, Sue. We had a lovely, albeit brief stay. We will definitely return and recommend :)

Fantastic quiet location with beautiful views. The breakfast is a cracker that is only surpassed by the awesome afternoon teas, of home made scones with the thickest cream I have ever seen. Sue and her family go out of the way to ensure their guests are looked after at every turn, even their young bloke Corey was serving breakfast on Sunday morning!!!!!

The only negative I have is that the spa room that we stayed in has a long window section at the top of the room that doesnt have any curtains. This means when the sun is up, so were we. This is the only negative of what is a fabulous setup.

Room Tip: I wouldnt take the spa room, due to the lack of curtain on the top window area. The non spa rooms w...
