Stayed at the lodge for 3 nights in August 2012, used the spa every day as well as the log fire - perfect accommodation, only $200/night - Bargain!!

Breakfast was great too - I went for the fresh fruit for the first time in years, and didn't regret it one bit. The tour bus picked us up right from the front door of the lodge as well :-)

I did make a bit of a schoolboy error and left the vent on the fireplace open full on the first night (note to self - close it after the fire is going!) - it got so hot I had to sleep on top of the bed (even though it was winter LOL!!)

Room Tip: The lodge is only $40 a night more than the rooms - and worth it!!

Hubby and I spent 3 nights at Blickinstal, Sue (owner) was fantastic, beautiful location, rooms were clean & fully equipped. Renovated bathroom, very clean. Home cooked breakfast each morning was sensational and if you're around for afternoon tea, even better. Only negative was the bed (mattress). Maybe we are a bit spoilt at home, but the mattress there was not the most comfortable we had ever slept on.

The location of this beautiful B+B is stunning, on top of a hill with lovely views, 5 min from Tanunda. Also close to excellent wineries. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful. The room was very comfortable with a lovely bathroom. The breakfast and the afternoon tea were lovely. Unfortunately we could only stay one night. I would have been happy to use it as a base for exploring Barossa Valley. Very good value. Highly recommended.

Lovely peaceful place to get away from it all. Absolutely stunning location nestled up in the hills. Perfect for noodling around the Barossa. The food was amazing, make sure you don't miss the afternoon teas!

My husband and I have just spent a long weekend in Barossa and we enjoyed our 3 night stay at Blickinstal Retreat very much. With only 6 rooms, it provides the getaway comfort and the privacy you are looking for when on vacation. It's exactly what we wanted - something small and boutique with a personal touch. Sitting up on a little hillside at a quiet and very private area with a nice view this property is centrally located within the Barossa Valley. The lodge we stayed is very clean, cozy and nicely decorated. Love the fireplace and the spa in the bathroom as well as the electric blankets ! Fresh home-cooked breakfast everyday plus yummy cakes at 4pm afternoon tea certainly made our stay even more enjoyable. Everynight after driving around all day wineing and dining we can't wait to go back "home" and take a hot shower and just kick back and watch a movie in bed. We will definitely recommend to friends and family and look forward to going back and staying here again. Highly recommend three restaurants for dinner in the area: 1918, FermentAsia and the Appellation@the Louise.

Room Tip: Book early to get the lodge !

Stayed here for two nights recently. The setting is just perfect for the barossa. Set amongst vinyards and the rolling hills. The room was just right! Lovely comfy bed, kitchenette, nice bathroom with large shower, flat screen tv and comfy lounge to sit on. There was plenty of room inside for luggage etc. Sue (the owner) was welcoming and very helpful. I stayed in Room 3, which was at the end. Had a yummy breakfast of poached eggs and bacon in the breakfast room in the main house, overlooking the vines. Sue's home baked afternoon tea was thoroughly enjoyed. Blickinstal is only a short drive away (5mins) into Tununda. Enjoyed a very nice meal at the Tununda Hotel in the main street.

This is a terrific place to stay but you will have to book, it is often booked out. There are quite a few rooms, maybe 6, but our room was one of two, very quiet and private. There was firewood for the fire (roasted ourselves so much we had to open up the doors and windows to cool down), port for an evening drink, a bottle of wine - so many lovely touches over and above what was expected. Breakfast was terrific, caramel apples and then bacon and eggs - cereals etc available too.
Afternoon tea is provided too if you are there in the afternoon.
Lovely couple, very relaxed and friendly place wonderful for the weekend.
