We stayed at this hotel on the way from Adelaide to The Great Ocean Road, we were greeted by the owners who were absolutely amazing. They gave us information about our room, the local area and places to eat.

The room was lovely and big, cool and just what we required.

Would happily stay here again, and would highly recommend this place....

Thank you for a wonderful stay

Kai and Ryan

As a great man once said it is nice to know nice people. Thanks for the kind words and we hope that you enjoy the rest of your trip in Australia. I have no doubt that with your personalities you will not have trouble experiencing friendly service where ever you go.

We stayed Public holiday 27 January, 2014 for one night.
The staff greeted us welcomingly after the long weekend rush.
Helpful in explaining what the town had to offer visitors and recommendations for meals, as no in house at the moment.
Room was nicely updated with excellent bathroom and cool air conditioning!
Outside is a little out dated, but great pool and spa and plenty of parking space.
Good value for money.
Easy walking distance to anywhere in Robe.

Room Tip: Any room would be good, little to no road noise, even though on main road in Robe.

Thanks for the kind words. We started renovating last year when we took over and will continue to do so now that the peak season is nearing an end. As you found out a number of our rooms have be upgraded already and we will continue to offer great value for money. Thanks for being great guests.

We took our first trip to Robe in mid-January and were lucky enough to pick Guichen Bay Motel as our accommodation. From first contact, the staff were friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make our trip fantastic - for example, when car engine trouble delayed our arrival beyond the normal check-in time, the manager proactively called us to arrange how we would get into our room after hours; they even had a needle and thread for us when my husband's belt loop came un-moored on our second day!
The room itself was clean and spacious, with modern furnishings, ensuite bathroom, aircon and a large-screen TV. The pool was clean and made for a lovely swim. Despite being there during the heatwave, we were very comfortable in our room.
The hotel is located close to Robe's main street, and the managers were happy to give us recommendations for great places to eat, and tips on sightseeing.
Really fabulous, we would definitely stay again. Thanks a lot!!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the refurbished rooms - I believe they are partway through a complete renovation!

It is a pleasure having nice people stay and even nicer when they take the time to say something nice about us and the motel. We maybe a 3 star motel but we are constantly upgrading and great value for money and consider ourselves a very clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay.
Thanks for staying and of course we hope to see you back again.

How to beat the heat! First, go to Robe, which is always a bit cooler than the city. Next, stay at the Guichen Bay Motel. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a table, chairs and a two seater settee, and a very efficient (and quiet) air conditioner. There is a lovely swimming pool, perfect for a dip at the end of the day. It was easy to stroll down the street for cafes and restaurants, or to the beach, and there is even a movie theatre across the road. David and Ant who run the place were friendly, welcoming and very helpful when minor problems arose. We enjoyed a 4 night stay at a very reasonable cost for high season.

We stayed from the 28th till the 31st of December. The staff were lovely, very helpful and obliging. The hotel is located in walking distance from the main beach, as well as being close to all the restaurants and shops. The location is the best part about the motel. The rooms are very old and the furnishings are very tired. The biggest let down to me was how tiny the bathrooms were, especially is you were sharing the room with another person. Overall very reasonable price wise and the location is perfect for a weekend away.

Thanks for taking the time to pen a review as we encourage all our guests to do so. We agree that the location is great and perfect for a weekend away. The motel is progressively undergoing an upgrade and whilst there is sill work to do a good number of rooms have new bathrooms and whilst not huge the bathrooms are quite adequate and functional for a three star motel. We believe we are great value for money and thankfully the large majority of our guests think so as well.

What was good: cheap and cheerful - what you see is what you get; central location - walk everywhere; helpful management - good with tips on things, and proactive; What could improve: reduce the use of strong scented cleaning agents; improve sound proofing between the rooms; better attention to detail - promised jug of rainwater not in room, and one tea spoon had been put away very sticky .. ewww! While Guichen Bay is OK for overnight, the rooms are very small (basically, the bed with some additional furniture around the walls).

Yes I agree you do get what you pay for. However we did let the guest in well before the check in time and we did mention that the rooms had just been sprayed with an air freshener and the jug in the room is for use with our rainwater tank which is explained to every guest. Sadly it appears our kindness has gone unrewarded. The sticky tea spoon is another matter and I agree it is unacceptable and our cleaning staff have been advised accordingly. The motel is of brick construction and the room the guest stayed in is a standard double which is adequate but bigger rooms are available but again you get what you pay for.

Thank you for taking time out to write this review. We think it's important to make our guests feel comfortable and to let them know what's available in the town so that they may enjoy their stay. Being that we are centrally located on the main road of Robe, guesst are within walking distance to most of our restaurants, cafes, beaches etc so really there s no need to take out the car.

Now that you've been to Robe, we hope to see you again.
