“Good clean basic budget motel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

Stayed here on the way between Mount Gambier & Adelaide as have meant to visit many times but haven't quite made it. Pleasant place with friendly people on Reception - rooms were clean & comfortable with all amenities required for our 1 night stay. Close walking distance to everything we required - eating places, supermarket etc. Quiet as well

Thank you for your review. We think it's important to make our guests feel comfortable and to let them know what's available in the town so that they may enjoy their stay. Being that we are centrally located in the main road of Robe, you don't need your car you can let your "feet do the walking" to most of our restaurants, cafe, beaches etc. Now that you've been to Robe hope to see you again.

After a long cold drive from Melbourne with nightfall, falling, we checked into this "Budget Chain" motel in Robe. We were invited to inspect the last available room: small but with all the usual amenities, but it had a "usable fridge" with a wine rack (bonus chilled the wine before getting fish and chips), a microwave oven, wifi and a toaster.
The reception staff were excellent and obliging providing vouchers for nearby eateries and crockery and cutlery for the chosen take-away.
Shower good, room clean, bed comfortable queen, A/C unit very quiet (bonus) all of which in my humble opinion brought the rating above average for this chain.

Room Tip: If you are a "Senior" try your luck for a discount

Thanks for the great review of our humble establishment. As new managers, it gives us a real understanding of how we are performing. As our restaurant is not opened we felt the need to get together with other eateries in town and can now offer vouchers over winter for a free drink with a meal as a means of saying thank you to our guests.

We returned to Robe for Easter after having stayed at Guichen Bay Motel in the new year. The weather was a little less palatable, but we did still enjoy our stay. The motel is being fixed up, but clean and comfortable after days out roaming the area - great to come back to a hot shower. It's a great spot - close to shops and restaurants - very central, however, if i was going back for longer, i would probably choose a house/unit with cooking facilities.

Thanks for your return visit, it is always a treat when our guests reviews mention cleanliness and comfort, as we strive to provide the best service and accommodation that we can. We are so fortunate here at the Guichen Bay Motel to be so central that we are within walking distance of a host of fine eatries.

On your next trip to Robe if you are considering a longer stay, we do have a Two Bedroom Unit with cooking facilities, dining area, lounge, a TV with Foxtel in each room and DVD player.

Hope to see you again.

Quiet, clean and relatively comfortable but it lacked any amenities (restaurant closed for extended season, no where to sit and enjoy sun, not even a tissue in your room!). Very well located but for the price you will find much better accommodation in Robe. Small improvements and upgrades could make this place much kinder to guests, eg a light at the entrance or signage to the reception, water in the room, some toiletries etc. pool area small and windy but only sitting place available. No views.

It is always disappointing to receive a bad review but in this instance I am a little perplexed. Whilst we are a clean and comfortable 3 star motel and undergoing an upgrade we do have outdoor seating at each room, an 8 seater outdoor setting and BBQ next to reception as well as seating in our pool and spa area, tissues are provided in all rooms on the wall in the bathroom as well we provide soap for each guest and shampoo again in a despender in the shower. All entrances are lit at night on a timer switch and signage has never been a problem before. A water jug is provide in rooms for tank water and all this is explained in our compendiums again provided in each room. Additionally all staff would have been quite happy to help if asked. We have a great location in the heart of Robe and believe we are very good value for money with free wireless internet and many other features found in a higher rated (and more expensive) motels. Unfortunately we can not do anything about the weather but we are endeavouring to fix that.

Just got back from a 3 night stay at Guichen Bay motel. The management were very friendly. I received a number of phone calls before my wife's and my arrival to confirm arrival. Even though this stay was part of the former owner's participation in Sunseeker Holidays, David and his wife phoned to inform me I was entitled to more than the 2 nights I had booked for.

The rooms were clean. The kitchenware is new. There was free Wi-Fi and Foxtel. The motel is on the main street and within walking distance to most eateries and cafe's. As yet the motel has not been able to secure a chef for the onsite restaurant.

Thank you for a comfortable stay.

We received a great accommodation rate at the Guichen bay motel
on arrival we were greeted by recent owners who offered us advice on local activities within the area. The motel is in a prime location and within walking distance to restaurants and cafes.
upgrades to the motel facilities are currently underway which will further add to enhance the decor.
We were extremely happy with the accommodation and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Robe the locals were very friendly and entertaining. We will definitely be visiting the local area in future and and would re-book at the motel

We stayed here for the Adelaide Cup long weeked and felt welcomed by the new manager David and his wife (the "birthday girl") from the time we opened the reception door to the time we checked out. This is an old motel, with the stone Harbour Master's building out front built in 1860, but tucked around the back are the rooms which are neat, clean and comfortable. We were pleased to find a new flat screen tv, plus fridge and microwave in our room, very handy additions. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends. David is working to bring the motel back to life and we wish him all the best.

Room Tip: Of 17 rooms, the lower numbers have easier parking out front.
