“REALLY LOVELY MOTEL WITH GREAT VIEWS OF THE LAKE”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2011

We just stayed at this Motel yesterday!!

Really lovely! From the minute we arrived, and chatted to our host at reception, we knew we chose well!!! The man was very friendly, and quite knowledgable of the area! (sorry I never knew his name!)

Our room was the family room, it had 1 x queen & 2 x singles. Just perfect for the 4 of us, 2 adults & 2 kids 7 & 3yrs.

The room was a great size, quite large & spacious. We were very impressed with this motel.

There was a large window at the back that had amazing views of the lake. There was also a back door that lead out onto a paved & grassed area that looked onto this amazing view. Very lovely to be out there early in the morning....listening to the sounds of all the birds was just peaceful & mesmerizing!!! The kids loved it, they wondered around this area (as quietly as possible, so as not to disturb others) & they loved exploring & watching the birds & the lake!!

The room was very clean, and the decor was not too bad either. Not ulta modern in furnishings, but very nice compared to a Motel standard!

The bathroom was quite a good size, the shower was large. No bath though, which for us was fine!

The beds were very comfortable, and we all slept really well. The pillows were great too!!

The toiletries were great & in abundance - we only used a cake of soap and that was quite good quality & smelled nice too!! (I tend to bring our own toiletries, as this is what we are used to!!)

We didn't cook in the room, but there was a large kitchen with great bench space (no stove though). There was a small fridge (more like a bar fridge) stocked with supplies if you need it!! There was a kettle/toaster as well.

There was a flat screen tv as well....not a large one, but big enough!! Quite impressed, as Motel's are usually the last to update appliances!! The couch was only a 2-3 seater, but it was enough for us all to cozy onto it!!

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay in this lovely Motel with fantastic views & great service!! We give it 10/10!!

The room was spacious and resourceful. We enjoyed cooking our meals using the stove and oven in our room. The back door of the room opens to a shared backyard area overlooking the beautiful lake. It is the best spot to enjoy breakfast.

We stayed one night in the Lakeview Motel, our initial worries about checking into a "motel" were immediately dispelled when we arrived and saw the clean, large Executive twin room and the view from the rear.

The room itself was extremely large, with kitchenette (stocked with mini bar provisions), sofa and tv area, a double bed and two twins, and our bathroom. The room was spotless and the best feature definitely was the large window offering stunning views across the lake. Outside the backdoor, we were given our own patio table and 2 chairs, to sit and admire the view.

I would recommend getting up around 7- 8am and observing the amazing transformation of the lake as it reflects the clouds in its surface.

The owners were very friendly and offered great advice about where to get an evening meal and petrol etc. DVD's can also be collected from the library in reception, which was open until a respectable 8pm.

We only stayed one night but were very impressed by how well this motel was run. The room was extremely clean and comfortable if not plush and for the price excellent value. The proprietors were friendly and helpful, pointing us in the direction of where we could eat (we would recommend the local pizzeria) and local sights.

We stayed here one night in March. The room was large and had kitchen facilities if you needed them. The place is definitely dated but in good repair; however, the main lighting is a large fluorescent ceiling fixture. A change in the lighting would make a big difference to the ambience. An excellent breakfast was brought to the room. We walked into town twice and found the distance reasonable. We had a very nice dinner at The Caledonian Hotel. Another time I would try to find a place closer to the ocean rather than on the lake. Overall, we were not unhappy with the Lakeview. We liked the town of Robe.

We didn't stay at the Lakeview Motel, but wanted to write a review because the manager was so friendly when we rented bikes from him! This is one of the few places that rent bikes, and it's not a very formal program. (They only have a few to choose from, and guests take precendence.) We stopped mid-week, and they were available so the owner was happy to lend them to us. Nice guy - has spent some time in the States and we had a nice chat before heading off. We rode around downtown Robe, and took the owner's recommendation for a bike path along Long Beach near the cottage that we rented. Incredible views, great location. Robe is one of my favorite spots in South Australia!

(Highly recommend Beachside Cottage -- this was our 2nd rental there!)

A basic motel room, dated, but clean and with nice view over the lake. Very friendly and helpful manager. Good value for money.
We stayed for two nights in this motel in mid January. When booking I tried to make a reservation for the one bedroom apartment, but that was fully booked so we ended up in a standard motel room. The view over the lake is very nice, but the motel room is very dated and basic. It shows that it is dated when the main amenity advertised is a clock-radio. But it was clean and well build, without noise from the neighbours or from outside. And the rate in the middle of the holiday season was very reasonable indeed. Due to the poor weather it was not possible to sit outside, which was a great pity as this forced us to spend considerable time inside as our baby boy needed his sleep.
The motel is situated outside the centre of Robe, so a car is always required to go somewhere. Robe is a charming town and we had probably the best crayfish ever.
