Went for a lovely coffee in the garden of 'The Whistling Fish" book and coffee shop today. Beautiful place, good books, great coffee and dog friendly. It seems to be very popular as there were 5 dogs lounging around in this very happy relaxed spot.

The Whistling Fish has fast become an icon of Robe if not South Australia! Divine book shop, exquisite coffee and cakes and you couldn't wish for a more welcoming proprietor. We've been visiting this shop ever since it opened. The books a collection of well chosen prized little gems both in new publication and rare old treasures. I particularly love the children's books always something a little different, hard to find and some clever purchases and we have always found our most favourite books here. I highly recommend this quaint little corner of Robe it will top of even the best of breaks in Robe. If for nothing other than sheer ambience visit this divine shop. There is also a lovely garden and sometimes local musicians play.

Popped in for the wife but loved this little book shop .The chap that runs the place is super nice and he has a range of quirky books not the run of the mills stuff .You can get a coffee as well as a home made cake .This is a hidden gem ! you must pop by even if your not into books the coffee and cake will get you .One of Robes best places .

We first saw the Whistling Fish late in the afternoon on a wet and cold day as we were cruising the main road in Robe to see what it had to offer. We decided to go back to check it out the next day.

This book / coffee shop is tucked away from the main street right opposite from the Caledonian Inn. It is not open every day so we were lucky to be able to go in.

The room is smallish but has a good range of new books for sale in many interesting categories as well as a small section of second hand books. We gravitated there straigth away as we are always looking for a bargain. We picked up two books to add to our library at home. one on pulp fiction, the other a history on the Blitz of London.

We did not stay for coffee or cake but there is a very pleasant area at the back of the shop where you can sit, read and enjoy a cup of coffee with your new purchases. In the summer there is a lovely outside area to do the same.

The shop is welcoming, the proprietor also and there is a wood stove to keep off the chill.

If you are wandering down the main street in Robe looking around and get to the Whistling Fish, stop, browse, have a coffee and cake and warm up. You won't regret it.
