Like another reviewer, I hadn't been to this hotel in several years. It's a good old fashioned country pub of the type I remember as a kid, visiting with my parents. Locals sitting on the verandah drinking beer is always a good look in a country pub.
It was a very hot evening (high 30's) and the air-conditioning inside was cool and refreshing after a 10 hour drive. It was Friday night and the locals in the restaurant were dressed to the nines! It was great to see. Information about the infamous Syrian Wolf which terrorised the locals in the late 1890's was to be found framed on the walls and the wolf and the rifle which ended it's reign of destruction on the sheep properties is prominently displayed.
The meals were fantastic. The size was very geneous, well presented and cooked to perfection. There were typical country pub meals and some more restaurant style meals as well. The bar had a good range of local wines and of course cold beer!
This was a great, authentic country pub experience. We'll definitely eat here next time we are in the area.
