Like another reviewer, I hadn't been to this hotel in several years. It's a good old fashioned country pub of the type I remember as a kid, visiting with my parents. Locals sitting on the verandah drinking beer is always a good look in a country pub.

It was a very hot evening (high 30's) and the air-conditioning inside was cool and refreshing after a 10 hour drive. It was Friday night and the locals in the restaurant were dressed to the nines! It was great to see. Information about the infamous Syrian Wolf which terrorised the locals in the late 1890's was to be found framed on the walls and the wolf and the rifle which ended it's reign of destruction on the sheep properties is prominently displayed.

The meals were fantastic. The size was very geneous, well presented and cooked to perfection. There were typical country pub meals and some more restaurant style meals as well. The bar had a good range of local wines and of course cold beer!

This was a great, authentic country pub experience. We'll definitely eat here next time we are in the area.

We visited the tiger hotel at tantanooler this evening 17th April 2013. It was schnitzel night and we were served by the very friendly owner. We did not have long to wait for our meal.
it was very nicely presented and we were surprised by the huge serving. Delicious chicken schnitzel, with avocado and a cheese and garlic sauce, served with hot chips and a buffet salad you could serve yourself.

I hadn't been to the Tiger Hotel in ages, so it was with fresh eyes that I set foot there recently. Locals sat on the verandah drinking beers in the sunshine in the time honoured fashion of Australian pubs. We went indoors via the front bar and other locals nodded "G'day" in the friendly country tradition. We made our way into the dining room and viewed the taxidermied Tantanoola Tiger after which this hotel takes its name.

The menu is very typical, honest to goodness pub food, but somehow seemed better than you'd expect. The various meals which came out to our table were all nicely presented, and enticing to the eye, and the flavour didn't disappoint. We had small children in our group who were well provided for too.

The salad bar had some old fashioned favourites I hadn't seen in a while, but which I enjoyed very much. My only criticism might be that the inevitable hot chips which came on our plates were undercooked, being quite pale, soft and had that raw potato taste when a little longer cooking time would transform them into golden sticks of crunchy enjoyment.
