“Juicy steaks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

This is a casual pub with great food. We all had steaks which were cooked to order ie not under done or over done. The chips were moorish and the vegetables were fresh. The portion sizes were just right ie left a little room for sticky date pudding which was yum. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed.

“God steak”

We had a good meal here while visiting the Barossa Valley. Steak is the marquee menu item. Nice folksy atmosphere.

“Delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013 via mobile

The food was amazing. Husband said it was the best steak he's ever had. He gave me a bite and it melted in my mouth! I had The Lady Lyndoch chicken and it was divine. I think we'll come back before we leave!

“Overpriced Country Pub”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

Had a Friday night dinner as part of large group and have eaten there many times in the past, although not within the past two years. Friendly, helpful bar staff, but the rest of the food and service was average and overpriced. Meals took up to 90 minutes to be served; portions were very small and the prices were 30-40% higher than comparable hotels. Food quality ranged from poor (dry, stale chips) to average and certainly not worth the wait. Wine was overpriced with perhaps 150% mark-up on known local brands and spirits were very expensive ($10.50 for a scotch and coke). Not a lot of competition in the town so frequented by locals and tourists, so they seem to think that they can charge and serve what they like; however, poor value-for-money tends to be passed on quicker than good news. There are a lot better hotels in the nearby towns of Tanunda and Gawler. Won't be going back until I hear good reviews to say that things have changed.
