We had not pre booked, but the place was empty, yet they made us feel they were doing us. Favour. Our guests ordered a glass of wine which was in fact 1/4 glass in volume.my guests sampled a bigger volume at their respective wine tasting than this!
Service opt, slow since there was only 1 other couple there.
Pizza was dry, tasteless.
This fodder fare was not fit for cattle fodder

We recently ate here during a visit to the Coonawarra wine region. We showed up at 545 pm - what we thought was a reasonable dinner time, given that restaurants in this area generally stop serving at 830 pm. The owner told us that she had a very busy evening ahead, and that all she could make us is pizza (which of course is the easiest to make, highest margin item on most menus.) We decided to try it as a light meal, and ordered one, for $20. The waitress explained that "they are really only meant for one person" and urged us to get two (for $40), but we stuck to our order. The pizza - flatbread style - was large enough for us two middle aged people - probably 1500 calories. The crust was good, but the eggplant and artichoke pieces were miniscule (1/4" strips) and scarce, and too small to contribute to the flavor. The main flavors were from salt and the grease of the salami. I suspect this restaurant can do better, but our experience was disappointing. Mount Gambier is just 20 minutes down the road, and we had excellent food there at Sage and Muntries and at the Metro Bakery

I suspect this couple were traveling on Victorian time (we are close to the border and there is a half hour time difference) as they came in about 5:15 and I was alone when they arrived as my dinner staff start to come in at 5:30. I did explain to them that we were booked out that evening but I could offer them pizza but not the full menu as I was still doing my prep. We do tell everyone that the pizzas are designed for one person and that they are a minimalist style of pizza, this is so customers can then decide if they are hungry enough to eat a full one. Just a small correction for travelers Mount Gambier is actually 60 kilometres away, not 20 minutes drive.

We had dinner here on the two nights that we stayed in Girraween House in the "township" of Coonawarra. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The food was great and special requested salad was prepared without issue.

We ate here on 2 of our 3 nights in Coonawarra and would highly recommend it. The wine list s great and so is the food! Melissa is a real character and was happy to have a chat with us. The pizzas are fantastic but we also enjoyed the fish dishes. We stayed at Girraween House so it was a short walk to get home after too much wine and food! Go there!

Coonawarra is a spectaular wine region in South Oz - at it's heart is the township of Coonawarra. A handful of houses and buildings and a spectacular resturant called Fodder.
Charming hostess, fresh seasonal flavours and creative without-being pouncy food, terrific wine list. Wonderful lazy meal.
