“Bompas Cafe ( not the restaurant part)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

On the beach and is nice looking addition onthe side of the old building. Great view, relaxing place. Food was fine, not particuarly generous but just enough...just. Staff were fine although very busy and some tables did not get there order taken in a particularly timely manner as there is also takeaway being attended to. The main reason for the average score is the acoustics are shocking. 20 people in there sounded like 100. The peopel next to us were laughing and being a bit loud but not over the top. The room just amplified the whole lot so basically my wife and I looked out the window the whole time and found it too hard to talk to each other.
Maybe the better choice of eateries in Beachport. We may buy some food and cook in our room tomorrow night.. or just get fish N chips ad eat on the beautiful beach.

Room Tip: Beachport motel is basic but very nice.

Thank you for your review.

Bompas has 5 different dining areas: the Asia House on the west side of the building, the central dining room (fully carpeted and very quiet), the side veranda and patio area directly across from the beach (very popular dining areas this time of year), and the sea view dining room (with the glass walls and half ceiling to take advantage of the views, and the full bar, it is by far the noisiest of our dining areas when busy and is the one you happened to be sitting in. On that night the room would have been full or nearly full which means 50 to 60 people, not the 20 you mentioned.) Both our Australian and Asian menus are available in all areas.

We don’t like to see anybody leave unhappy so we do hope that if someone has a problem they would bring it to our attention. There is always something we can do and, in your case, any of our staff would have been more than happy to move you to one of the four quieter dining areas until you were comfortable. Tripadvisor cannot improve your experience but our friendly and helpful staff can so it makes little sense to publish your concern online if you chose not to bring it to us first.

I’m glad you liked the food and service. Hopefully any subsequent visits to Bompas will be much more satisfying.

We found this place from the local visitor centre. Stayed on Christmas Eve, 2012.

When we arrived Sarah (the owner) greeted us and showed us the room first before we decided to stay (she suggested this). It was upstairs on the corner. Being 6 mnths pregnant I chose the king suite (!!) which was room number 3. It was perfect - large balcony overlooking port/pier (had a table and two chairs on the balcony which was nice); ensuite; good sized fridge with mini bar selection; kettle; toaster; TV; heater (not that we needed it!).

We ate at the restaurant downstairs and food was excellent - not flashy city food but a good selection of nicely done real food.

Our room price included breakfast. Because it was Christmas Eve Sarah brought our breakfast up on a tray at night (bread for toast, cereal, and milk, and cutlery and crockery). This was a nice touch.

Room was decorated very well and had everything we needed.

We will def be back - next time with bub!!

We had tea there just last night and found the food and service was amazing. We had a grazing platter to start with and that really could have done an extra person. My husband had sweet and sour pork and I had Chicken and cashews and we had special fried rice. All had fresh ingredients and were well presented. Staff were lovely and friendly. We will be back for a visit again soon

My wife, myself, & two other friends had lunch at the restaurant on the 9th of December. The atmosphere & table service was great. The menu is a variety of choices & there is also a full menu of Asian quisene. I chose the Sichuan beef & that was nice. My fellow diners had Honey peppered beef stir fry, Salt n pepper squid & Honey chicken. There is a special on Sunday arvo's for beer & wine with live music playing. All meals where great you cam eat inside or outside.

Visiting off season, Beachport is VERY quiet. We rented room 4, which is huge and has a great balcony overlooking the pier. Eclectic decor, high ceilings, comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly and the cafe downstairs seemed to be the happening place in town. Dinner was good and the chef came out to discuss vegetarian options, offering to make pretty much anything we wanted. Unfortunately the breakfast did not start until 9 am so we had to miss it because of an early departure. Would stay again.

Family of five stayed on night to take kids fisshing around the foreshore and back beach of the town and across Rivoli Bay to Southend. Nice big building and room - comfortable bed and great balcony overlooking foreshore. This is not a high end polished product - it is comfortable, clean and was just right for us to stay in when visting this small coastal town. Went up to the local pub for dinner that night and that was ok as well.
