“FANTASTIC STAY AT AMY'S 3”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012

Firstly I am in agreeance with the owner's last response for accomodation review of the 3rd and 4th June.
I don't think much would make those people happy there expectations must have been very high, but we are all entitled to an opinion.

My duration of the stay was 1st June and departed on the 4th June.
The house itself was definately like your own home, breakfast provisions, washing detergent, outdoor settings(2 of these to be exact), saucepans, dishes, cups you name it, it was there, not once did we have to contact the landlords.
We enjoyed our stay, made the most of the scenery and wineries , walked every morning around town and yes it was a good 30minute walk in 4degrees and crisp, it was amazing.

I would recommend this home and give it a 10/10, the owner's have taken in account what people would like on there stay over's and have accomodated to those needs, GOOD JOB.
Give a stay with this house, you won't be disappointed.

Stayed in the large 4 bedroom property with three other girlfriends. We loved the place. It's very clean and very spacious. It had a large living area which was perfect to hang around. The property has a large well stocked kitchen and the provisions were varied and plentiful. We absolutely loved the bacon.

The two bathrooms were handy and the bath, whilst not a spa was quite deep and soothing especially after our ride on the Riesling Trail.

The owners were very helpful and willing to help. We hired our bikes from Amy's House and they dropped them off at the property for us. They were very good quality.

The Riesling trail starts just down the road and we loved our day on the trail, visiting wineries and taking in the atmosphere.

Would definitely recommend Amy's House to anyone visiting with a group of friends.

Not enough provisions - 8p stayed for 4 days in 4 bdrm house - Amy 3. They only provided bkfst food, ie eggs bacon bread & coffee for 1 day! When we rang them, they brought food for 1 more day! Also had only 2 toilet rolls, for 8p! Friend stayed in other house - Amy 1,told it was 5 mins walk, actually was 15 mins walk. There were no spare blankets or pillows, which were needed. Table only seated 6p. Kitchen lacking - no casserole, old scratched teflon frypan, not enough glasses/cups/plates, so we had to use dishwasher after every meal. Cheap cutlery, cupboards mostly empty. No extras in bathroom, eg shower cap. Too few towels, also had to ph for that. 2 music CDs's only. BBQ - tiny & very dirty was unusable. Outdoor setting with 4 chairs. Could have been so much nicer with a bit of thought. It is not a cheap stay either. Disappointed - will not stay here again.

It's sad to see this kind of review as it really gives a distorted picture.

There were actually 6 paid guests booked to stay at the house and the breakfast/linen provisions provided were to cater for this number of guests. The other 2 guests were to stay at cottage 1 (and also left an average review) and they were provided with their own breakfast provisions. Provisions include bacon, eggs, yoghurt, bread, pancake mix, jams, cereals, coffee( both ground and instant), tea, milk, orange juice, biscuits, chocolates, bottle of wine (+ port at Amy's 1 and 2). Most guests comment on the generous amount and variety of provisions in our B&Bs so it's puzzling to see such a comment considering we provided further provisions to these guests upon their request.

The property actually has 2 sets of outdoor settings making a total seating capacity of 10 so the statement about 4 chairs is also puzzling. Likewise the comments about toilet paper/pillows/blankets etc. All these items always provided and guests were advised where to find them.

I guess it's inevetible that despite best efforts some guests are never fully satisfied. We always ask our guests to contact us immediately if they ever needed anything during their stay. We are always willing to help.

Quite overpriced but maybe I am a little out of touch. The cottage(!) seemed quite clean & did take note of the crisp white sheets on the bed & the electric blanket was a bonus. Found the bathroom disappointing with the spa bath being a small one & rather old looking. An effort was made with candles around to make a nice ambience but really.....soap/shampoo containers attached to the shower wall!! Nice little cakes of fancy soap would have been more appropriate. Towels were not soft & fluffy.
The fire was quite nice when it did get going - took 12 hard to light matches to make it happen leaving us no matches to light the candles even if we wanted to. Maybe there were some more hidden somewhere but didn't look. Our meal at the Rising Sun Hotel was mediocre but what you would expect for a place like that. Service was friendly.
Overall it was an okay place to stay for our first & maybe last trip to the Clare Valley.

Just the perfect place to spend our 40th wedding anniversary. 3 nights in cosy comfort, nice kitchen set up with all the breakfast goodies you need, wide screen TV with DVD player and a selection of DVDs. We even stoked up a wood fire to warm up a cold night. Hosts were very accommodating. Would recommend, especially as a base to explore the wonderful food and wine of the Clare Valley.

Amy's House is a lovely place in a great location. It was a lovely little home for the Easter weekend - great living room, bedroom, bathrooms, dining area and outdoor space. If the owners are looking for constructive feedback I would recommend they add a few more essentials to the kitchen - in particular there was no salt and pepper, not enough washing up liquid and not enough wine glasses for the four of us.

Auburn is a lovely area, and whilst being at one end of the valley, it has the essentials - good pub, restaurant, IGA, fuel station, bike hire. The owners of Amy's offer bike hire which is much cheaper than the standard rental price.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Amy's to friends, and would choose to stay there again.

A quiet little cottage within walking distance of shops, hotel and restaurants.
Easy drive to Clare Valley wineries and other places of interest made for enjoyable day trips.
Everything we needed was there to have a relaxing few days.
Wood heater in the lounge room enhanced the cosy welcoming atmosphere of Amy's.
Outdoor BBQ area provided another aspect to our stay and watching the sunset from the little front verandah was "Just perfect".
We will be back and have recommended "Amy's" too many of our friends.
Thanks for a great B&B experience,
Joe and Lyn
