Owner description: At Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary our friends become yours. Enjoy a day with our friendly residents. Pet, feed and interact with kangaroos, koalas, possums, birds, snakes, reptiles, and a whole lot more! Cooberrie Park is a wildlife sanctuary and takes care of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife that are then rehabilitated and released back to the wild. These animals are victims of car hits, dog and cat attacks, along with birds falling out of nests, sick and abandoned animals. Once recuperated, Cooberrie Park permanently houses wildlife that can't be released back to the wild and houses rescued animals from all across Australia, including animals from the RSPCA along with confiscated illegal wildlife. OUR HISTORY... Cooberrie Park began as a botanical garden more than 100 years ago. There are a number of very old European and South American trees at the park, as the original owner was a European Botanist. Then, 45 years ago animals started to arrive and visitors were able to visit and interact with the wildlife. To this day, Cooberrie Park has adopted the same ethos inviting visitors to get up close and interact with a wide range of animals. Cooberrie Park is open plan and the kangaroos have 25 acres to explore!

A fun place to take the little ones for a couple hours of entertainment up close and personal with the animals.

Had a fantastic time hand feeding the free roaming kangaroos and emus, our kids loved the animal show, we loved giving the koala a cuddle. The park is full of rare trees, its great to see the animals thinking they are in the wild.If you visit Yeppoon do not miss this place.

Arriving in the sleepy town of yeppoon we thought there would be nothing around worth visiting, then we spotted a Cooberrie park brochure in one of the stores. And we are so glad we did, this place is fantastic, couldn't fault the work that these guys do!! Lots of animals to see and learn about one if my favourites being the playful marmoset monkeys. With a pool, BBQ area & daily interactive animal show we couldn't of asked for anything more! Faultless. :)

What a brilliant day had by all the family, upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly staff member who after providing us with all the information we required guided us through the souvenir shop and cafe and into the park.

As soon as we were through the gate the kids were off and couldn't be more excited to see a group of ducks hurry towards us for a handful of food. After hurrying them along we began our trip around the park, there was everything there you would expect to see. There were lots of friendly roos to be found in the centre of the park and we were able to hand few several of them, we were even lucky enough to get up close and personal with a mother and her Joey. The kids couldn't of been more excited. At 1pm a live animal show was held and we were all given the opportunity to learn information and hold snakes, lizards, cockatoo even get to pat and have photos next to the koala, as a bonus we were able to hold a koala for $20 extra which is a brill price compared to some of the bigger zoos around! Overall I couldn't fault the place and after talking to one of the family members who run the park who told us how they had changed the park over the years and there plans for the future, we think you guys are awesome.

Highly recommended!! Keep up the good work.

As part of our long weekend break we decided to visit Cooberrie Park. What a major disappointment. You're led to believe from its glossy brochures that it is a substantial wildlife park and reserve. That is far from the truth. It is small with more visiting ducks than animal exhibits. It's opening times of 1000-1500 means that in warm weather the couple of kangaroos they have just want to hide in the shade and want little to do with the paying customers. The entry fee is unbelievably high ($25.00) for what there is to see. We waited around until 1300 for the advertised animal showing only to find that three or four animals are quickly introduced and then you're advised that you can have your picture taken holding a Koala for an additional fee ($20.00). That was it. Show over in 5 minutes.

This place is not worth the drive. They don't even offer anything for sale to eat. No Pies, no sandwiches but you can buy a drink or ice cream. If you're in the area and want to see animals then I suggest you go to the Rockhampton Zoo. It has five times more animals and best of all it's free.
