The Himilayan Delicacies, is located in one of the three Large buildings, in downtown Southport.
The restaurant has been operating for sometime, but there new management has brought about subtle changes ( so they tell me ) however what i liked was the friendly staff, the reasonable prices and the variety.
Over a period of two days I tried a number of dishes, The first was the Barramundi and Salad, not very Nepalese !!! but very nicely presented, tasty and a beautiful dish, the mango Salsa on the fish was a delight.
I also had the Dill and Potato Soup, This too was tasty, and the aroma and taste was wonderful.
The Chilli Nepalese Beef, Their Momo, of Gyoza as the Japanese cal them, are small dumpling pastries which they make fresh each day. They are served steamed with sauce and some garnish.
For dessert, they have Pannacotta, not very Nepalese, but delightfully made and served with a Berry compote and the other desert which I tried was a Rice, Milk and cream pudding, with
sultanas. This was delicious.
The restaurant offers all the dishes as a takeaway, and my only complaint about the place is that they are not licenced, BYO, instead, and they don't have a coffee machine, soemthing which the Ex Chef Manu has said they will look at soon.
This place really deserves the support of the locals and out of towners !
