“Wow what a location”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

The location of this camping ground is amazing, watching the sun set over the ocean each afternoon is the best part of the stay. The camping ground is the same as most grounds in popular areas, it is very busy and at times it can be loud, but the facilities are good and the amenities are ample and always very clean. Washing machines and dryers are onsite as well as clotheslines. The only disappointment was that the road is very close and you can hear the traffic, however the road was not too busy when we were there. Boats can be anchored right out front of the camping grounds and fishing in the area is good. Most of the sites along the ocean have fire pits and kids can play in the water out the front. Agnes Water is only 5 min away, be warned the supermarkets are ridiculously expensive. Make sure you do not drive through Agnes Water without stopping for a pie at the bakery beside the Caltex servo, outstanding quality and flavour, the bread is also great. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: A21-27 are right on the beach.

We stopped here on our way back from a road trip to the Daintree and stayed for 2 nights. We arrived late, but the owner/manager was very obliging allowing us to check in anyway. We drove past other camp grounds to get here and were so glad we did. The location is fantastic. They have suffered damage with the floods and cyclonic rain in early 2013, but are quickly fixing up. Amenities clean and comfortable, and although it wasn't busy when we were there, I think there seemed to be enough to cope with peak periods.

As we had been driving all day, we decided to have dinner in the Bistro - great choice! The best locally caught fish'n'chips I've had in ages. We went back the second night for more.

We will be back, on a beachfront site next time, but will need to book. We camped under a Leichhardt tree in fruit and it dropped fruit all day and night, on our tent and heads! Won't be doing that again.

Room Tip: I'd prefer not to camp by the road due to traffic noise

I have been camping at this camp ground almost every year since i was a new born. It is a ecellent location and is higly recomended for a family holiday. The calm waters and long beach front gives the kids plenty of things to do at high tide and at low tide. At high tide there are a set of mangroves just down from the camp ground that make a great diving platform for the kids (bom diving) and at low tide they will enjoy chasing the thousands of soldier crabs along the beach.
The sun set is one of the best i have seen and is enjoyed by the whole camp ground as every one takes there cheese and bickies (& drinks) down to the beach to view and take photos.

This is a very popular camp ground wich can make bookings essential and unfortunatley hard to track so be sure to double check with a phone call a couple of days before you arrive to ensure there is no mistake with your booking.

If you dont like crowded camp grounds this is not the place for you during peak times as it is very cramp however in my opinion very worth it purely of the location you get to enjoy every day.

We have heard so much about this place, I was worried it wouldn't live up to our expectations. It certiainly met them and possibly exceeded them! We had a waterfront site that was so close, we were almost a little concerned bout high tide. Brilliant!

Facilities were good, two sets for when its really busy. Was very quiet I. Town these last few days and I hear that is normal for this time of the year.

There is a fish and chippie place on site, which we were going to try, but was closed on Mondays unfortuntely.

Recommend it without hesitation... Just not too many of you ;-)

Amazing beach location but book 21 to 24 beachside spots only. The rest are crowded and can be noisy with kids but that's life!

Yes, they know how to charge but
Go beachside with a campfire in front of your tent and it's worth it. ($42 powered
Beachfront.

Reservations seems to be mixed up quite
Constantly here so check and check again to ensure you get the best spots. Having said that, staff here are very friendly.

Great location next to the beach. but so crowded and noisy, caravan sites very small, amenities very average, and $5 for a load of washing....joke! Not enough power points or hose connections for everyone! And still charging $53 for 2 adults and 2 kids! Not happy!

Back for our second stay at 1770 campgrounds from NSW. Park was nearly full during the week so was quite noisy, but you would expect that. Right on the beach watching the sunset and dragging the boat up just can't be beaten.

One of the amenities blocks needs a facelift, but the other one is not too bad. The sites are small and have absolutely no grass on them so expect to go to bed with dirty feet and children.

All in all a great location, but needs a bit of money put back into the amenities and site upkeep.

Room Tip: Book well in advance for a beachfront site.
