This motel is right next to the pub overlooking the Gulf of Carpentaria at Karumba Point.
The motel is well named as Karumba Point is literally at the end of the bitumen road in the Gulf Savannah country of Queensland, Australia.
We had a very spacious studio apartment that opened out onto a grass lawn with outdoor barbecue and beyond that the vastness of the magnificent gulf.
The room had a fully equipped kitchen, dining setting, lounge area, TV and basically everything you need for a decent stay in Karumba.
Fishing is the main activity here whether from your own tinny, the beach or on a charter, just remember to keep your eye out for crocs. Also if you do a charter give the Kerry D a miss , we went with them and it wasn't good enough.
The pub next door is great for a meal with lots of local seafood and a sundowner while you watch the sun set over the gulf from what has to be one of the best beer gardens in the world is a must.
It's a long way to go but it's worth the adventureMore
