Oaks Aspire Apartments
Ranked #4 of 7 Hotels in Ipswich
Reviewed August 19, 2012

We just stayed overnight at the Oaks Aspire and were thrilled with our apartment. We requested a one bedroom but were given a two bedroom (with that bedroom locked) but this gave us a very generous space inside and a huge wrap around the corner balcony - we wished our grandchildren were there to utilize it. The beds were really comfortable and the views were great even though we were only on Level 1 - can just imagine what it's like from the top! I had a late checkout after my husband had gone to his meeting and I found it very peaceful and comfortable even though the CBD is only a stone's throw away. My only complaint was no phone book but I guess they "walk" and I probably could have got one from the office! There was a great little booklet outlining where to go and what to do in Ipswich. We found everything very clean and had no problems with noise even though we had the door open and didn't use the airconditioning to mask the sounds. The staff were very helpful and we would certainly stay there again should we need to stay in the area. Thank you.

We found Oaks Aspire very pleasant and easy to commute to our destinations each day. Apartment was beautifully appointed, and very clean and tidy. Staff were very pleasant if a little casual. Little things like $150 imprest on our card for possible use of items from the fridge (there were none in it), telephone and/or internet was a bit annoying. There was no information regarding the internet or cord to connect, but these were meant to be in the room. All the cutlery was in a well used condition, and some of it very dirty. A brochure highlighting local restaurants or takeaway food outlets would have been good. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Relatively noisy location with train centre and highways either side of building but our room overlo...

After reading other reviews, we decided to give it a trip on a recent trip to Ipswich to meet our new Grandson. Like other reviewers getting into the place was a nightmare. More info is needed on the website. When I did get in the Receptionist "must have had a bad Day '! The room itself..NO PROBLEMS ! was one of the best weve stayed in . Our daughter didnt want to go home ..loved her king bed. HOWEVER ....THE TRAINS! My god ...do they ever stop ! There is nothing that warns you about these . Of 3 nights we were kept up all 3. A real shame becuase otherwise I would come back ...but not sure now

Room Tip: Ask for one NOT on the railway side

We booked the Oaks Aspire for 7 nights in June 2012. The features on the website were exactly what we wanted in a 2 bedroom family apartment. After reading some reviews, we became a little concerned but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. Well, we should have been very concerned because upon checking in we experienced, no parking for checking in,unfriendly staff, and we were in a room overlooking the busy railway lines. As if that wasn't bad enough, the shower would alternate between freezing cold and boiling hot. This was reported to management and we were advised that they were aware of the problem and were having it looked at but could find no problem! This was still the case after our seventh and last night!! Would be very dangerous for young children. In fact, after a day in the cold rain, there was no hot water at all! The trains constantly kept us awake at night and add to that the noisy air conditioner in the main bedroom meant there was no sleep at all. The rooms were well appointed and a good size but were not well maintained with mould in the shower and dirty marks on the walls. Also, the facilities advertised on the Oaks website were not as described. The pool was not heated, apparently heater not working, and the spa heater wasn't working properly. The projector in the media room didnt work either and staff had no idea how to fix it. I understand that things break down, but they were broken when we arrived and still not fixed when we left after a week, so who knows how long they haven't been operational.
This hotel is located very close to everything in Ipswich, with the town centre, major shopping centres, restaurants in walking distance. We found the BBQ facilities to be great and the secure parking was also great with parking marked clearly and easily found.
If I was to stay here again I would be asking a lot of questions before handing over my money!!

Room Tip: book somewhere else

Myself and one of my employees stayed for 4 nights last week. We had a 1 bedroom apartment each. We were both happy enough with our rooms and the overall facilities on offer. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. We had no problems finding a parking spot in secure undercover parking.Location is very convenient and close to main shops and CBD. The only downside is a bit of noise during the night from the trains directly across the road.
Overall good value for money and I would stay again if in this area.

We recently stayed in a 2 b/r Apt. There is no off-street parking for checking in. Our apartment was very grotty. Walls were covered in dirty marks making the overall outlook very dirty. There were disgusting stains all over the carpet in the 2nd bedroom - one the size of a dinner plate! The Throw on the bed had a gross stain on it. The bath was not clean & actually had stubble remnants in it! There was only just enough milk supplied for 2 cups of coffee. The noise from the trains outside was quite loud and very disturbing throughout the night. The next morning my husband had an early appointment but couldn't drive out as the security gate jammed. We had to call security who, in turn, called a repairer. An hour later he was finally able to leave the building. Needless to say he missed his appointment. No apology was offered on check-out. They didn't even ask how we found our stay. I have stayed in Oaks Hotels throughout Qld and have found them excellent with off-street parking for check-in, more than enough milk for coffee with extremely clean rooms but I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

This was the 4th hotel on our east coast trip from Sydney to Cairns. We chose this hotel rather than driving in to central Brisbane as I was not sure what to expect when driving in Aus even though they drive on the best side of the road and use roundabouts. We chose the location for its proximity to the local rail network so that we could use this to visit Brisbane and allow me a drink or two. We stayed 2 nights here and nothing was too much of a problem for the staff. First impressions were a bit cautious as the street we entered the car park from looked a bit dodgy, but in the cold light of day was not as bad as our first impression. (we did arrive under the cover of darkness). Hotel room was excellent with great views over Ipswich. The location was great for us and a 50 min trip in to Brisbane via rail was much better than me having to drive with my novice navigator and then find somewhere to park. We would have wasted at least half a day just getting parked. The local rail service took us straight to the centre and we got to see much more than expected. An added bonus was than on our return we were greeted by a spectacular firework display that had been put on by a local shopping mall. Great finish to a fantastic day out in Brisbane. Would recommend this to others who wish to visit Brisbane without the hassle of trying to negotiate the busy city.
