You do not see the extent of this wonder from the beach, a short walk through the bush puts you in the middle of this amazing place, Fantastic views of the whole bay around to the lighthouse.

We rented boards from the surf shop $15 for two hours in Rainbow Beach Surf Shop and walked all the way. Long walk for little kids, but well worth the long bush walk. You can short cut 2/3 of the bush walk and drive to the car park at the top of Carlo Rd, we'd do that next time.

Sand surfing really depends on how recently the sand has been wet. It was damp and very slow when we were there and the kids lost interest pretty quickly in the sand surfing. I can imagine it would be great if the sand was really dry. Try a deal with the surf shop, too wet - refund. They didn't offer one when I asked though.

The view was amazing, and as you come out the bush walk onto the sand blow it's a dramatic sight. The kids gasped, and comments like "it's like the Sahara" were uttered out of their stunned mouths.

All in all, very good and would thoroughly recommend a visit.

The Carlo Sand Blow is one of those things in nature you really need to experience to appreciate. With amazing views and the hiking in the sand (you'll feel it the next day!) you'll want your camera. Everyone, from young to old sat down and just watched the sunset in peace, one of those memories that will always make you smile.

stunning view and unlike stuff you usually see in cities etc- unbelievably windy though so be prepared for sand EVERYWHERE! it's yonks later and there's probably still a tonne in my hair, bag and life! we tried sandboarding yet the dunes weren't quite right- great view anyway! :)
