We had a group of 20 for a Saturday lunch and were very happy with our day, the food and service. It's been over 10 years since we visited but I remembered it as a great place for adults to get together in a beer garden atmosphere with plenty of room for the kids. Lovely not to be stuck in a SLC or RSL to have great views of Straddie and the seashore. Our booking was done all electronically and I was able to contact them beforehand via email to change numbers and order a high chair, great. For a big group I I really loved the order & pay booth for our table. The whole check sharing with a big group is a nightmare, when it was time for lunch, couples ordered and payed themselves, sweet. Same for drinks service much easier for everyone just to grab their own orders when they wanted. I had the battered barramundi with chips $25 and hubby had the Wagyu burger and chips $20. Both excellent tasting and great value. Meals came very quickly given their was a large function, max wait was 15mins for our table if 20. Mine had a 5min delay but someone came & told me and apologised. Wide selection of beers available was really good, it's nice to see some pubs not signing up to one corporate brewer/supplier. Staff were super friendly, dishes cleaned away timely. All in all we had a great day with friends, good food, cold drinks in the great outdoors, what more could you ask for?

Had a family dinner here before Xmas. What a horrible experience. The main meals were entree size & very expensive. My well done steak was still mooing. Will never eat here again when I visit my in laws. Looks great in the out door dining area but a huge let down!!!!!!

Hi. We appreciate your recent comments. As a local family icon we are always montioring the quality and pricing of our meals. Occasionally a well done steak can be under cooked as we attempt not to burn it and to dry out the flavour.

We went to the Grand View hotel for Christmas lunch this year and I have to say it was possibly the worst Christmas day lunch I have ever had! The floor staff were clearly poorly trained and inexperienced. The "slop" that was served was barely fit for human consumption and at $130 per head, that's right $130 per head (food only) we all expected much more. By comparison, we could have and should have booked at Matt Moran's Aria restaurant where, for $140 per head (including drinks) we could have enjoyed 5 star cuisin!! Won't ever waste my time with this hotel again..........................very poor Grand View Hotel!!!

Wow I am surprised to hear this. Of the 400 people we served on Christmas Day a large percentage of them personally thanked me for the wonderful food and the great service. I feel Fresh Sydney Rock Oysters, Juicy Tiger Prawns, Bugs, Cured Salmon and a large array of Hot Meats and Salad could be deemed "Slops". It is a shame we werent alerted to this on the day so we could have rectified the issues.

A good ride to Cleveland to call in and see friends for coffee and catch-up. Decided to have some lunch & enjoy the view. Sign at entrance said "wait to be seated" Waited, waited, nobody came. Ended up at the bar for a drink instead. (dirty, sticky table with glasses left behind). Only had one drink each as two xxxx gold's were $15.00. Lovely view overlooking the bay with a nice sea breeze. Thought things were looking up. Sadly mistaken. Observed more groups of people waiting at the sign to be seated, they ended up just walking in after about a 10min wait. No menus to be found so went for a wander & overheard diners complaining about a 50 min wait for wedges !!!!. Large queues at the bar for drink orders and also people paying for meals. Bedlam !! Overall we were turned off by the lack of service, disorganisation of meal process, lack of attention to customers and surrounds. Stayed for approximately 45 mins waiting for the live music to begin but they were tuning up etc for all this time so didn't hang around. Ended up having a lovely feed of fish, chips & salad from the chicken/kebab shop at Wellington Point. Won't be back to the Grand View.

Hi Debbie. Thankyou for your comments. Occasionally on a Sunday when we have a number of walk ins there can be a delay on seating as we give prioirtiy to our bookings. I apologise you had to wait though we try to limit it to the shortest possible time. I am surpriesd at the the price of two gold schooners as this should have been $10 not the $15 you were charged. $7.50 a schooner should have raised alarm bells.

Been there many times for meals but on Saturday night went for a 60th party in one of the Rotundas. The waitress was so attentive it really made the night, we had sit down meals for about 30 people and it all went smoothly, arriving hot and well presented. Would highly recommend having your party in one of these private Rotundas for any age!

Thank you for your comments. Yes I agree the Gazebos are great for a private party in an outdoor setting. Look forward to seeing you again. Servicing large groups A La Carte in a timely manner and with quality is always a challenge and I am glad we achived a good result.
