Clandulla Cottages & Farmstay
Reviewed July 27, 2013

We have stayed at Clandulla Cottages twice now, and both times have been lovely. John and Lorna make you feel like family. The variety of animals is all that small children could ask for: Cows, horses, sheep, kangaroos, pigs, peacocks, turkeys, geese, chickens, a variety of tame and wild parrots and of course the little dog Sam. You are invited to participate in feeding the animals morning and afternoon, and it is delightful to see how quickly small children overcome their reservations about even the larger animals. The accommodation is homely and comfortable, and even compared with some five star establishments around the world, this place - despite the rural environment - is kept scrupulously clean. If you wish, you can also order an evening meal, and so far our experiences with the food have also been great. We would recommend a stay at Clandulla Cottages - with a minimum of two nights - to anyone with a young family.

The hosts, John and Lorna, are very lovely and welcoming! They made us feel right at home and they are very kind and friendly. They are such beautiful people.

The atmosphere at the farm was very calm, quiet and peaceful. It was a great get away from the busy city. The animals look well-looked after and loved! I definitely recommend this farm stay!

We stayed in the Mexicana suite which is perfect for our family of 4 (2 kids age 4 and 8). There are 2 bedrooms (double and another room had 2 single beds).
I had booked Clandulla after checking out a few farmstays. Clandulla offers value for money and the location is rather convenient. The place is so pretty! And u can really see how John and Lorna love their little farm family. My kids loved feeding the animals - chickens, geese, horses, pigs, sheep, cows, peacocks... And a wallaroo too!
The beds are comfortable and the linen and towels are of good quality. For a reasonable extra charge, you can request Lorna to prepare meals - we had fish and chips which my kids loved.

Thanks John and Lorna. It was a really great experience!

I've been to 3 other farm stay in Australia and NZ and found Clandulla to be the best so far. Although the farm is not huge but it has a very good collection of resident animals (peacock, kangaroo, parrots, cockatoos, chicken, goose, miniature horse, cow, sheep, pig, turkey and I believe I forgotten some).
Our host, John, has been excellent. He has a very close bonding with his animals. He tries to make the children feel comfortable with the animals as they are a little afraid of them initially. They warm up to the animals very quickly with his encouragement.
The cottage has a nice outdoor dining area where we enjoy our daily breakfast at. There's a pool table, children playground and open area for the children to run about.
The interior of the cottage is not luxurious but it's comfortable. Overall, this is a great place and will recommend it to my friends.

From the moment we opened the front gate and were greeted by John and Lorna we felt right at home. The farm and animals are so well cared for and are a testament to John and Lorna's love of what they do. Our cottage was so homely and immaculate......and quiet. It was lovely to curl up on the lounge in front of fireplace with a glass of wine and a magazine, while the kids were running around outside playing. I didn't have to fear them getting into any trouble as the grounds and animal enclosures are secure. it was nice to see our kids getting back to nature, playing with animals and climbing trees, no IPad or IPod or X Box in sight and not once did I hear "I'm bored" there was so much for them to see and do. The food that Lorna prepared for us was made with so much love and was just delicious, it was so lovely to share a meal with them on one night and share all of the wonderful stories. Our kids especially loved feeding and playing with Abbey the baby Wallaroo. Thank you John and Lorna and Clandulla Cottages we had the best weekend and will be back again and again and again with much love from the Trask-Cirsten Family xoxox
