“Room to Move and great location”
Reviewed December 18, 2011

My wife and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment on a Friday and Saturday night in October. I am a sales rep and often take my wife with me and after spending the first week of a two week trip in hotel rooms I was looking forward to some space. I was not disappointed. The apartment was clean, roomy and beautifully appointed. I had made my booking a couple of days earlier by using Wotif.com. Unfortunately the property had not checked its bookings and were not expecting me. The greeting was far from friendly, but the manager was able to find us accommodation without too much trouble. But that was it. No explanation of facilities or anything else to do with the establishment. a great shame because the complex is fantastic. The setting is lovely and very relaxing. The local pub offers great food and entertainment. More importantly a courtesy bus to pick up and take back. Having stayed at Agnes Water before I was aware of this. Thankfully because the management never mentioned it. All said great accommodation, but maybe we caught the manager by surprise andf she never quite recoverd.

Room Tip: Book a room backing on to the pool area. But beware that it can be quite noisy early in the morning...

Roomy accommodation, complex good standard, not upmarket but good value for money. Main annoyance was the rules written everywhere and threat of $20 fine if you fiddle with TV settings! A short walk to beach which is grear swimming beach.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the road are best if you want a sleep in. Some rooms step out into pool area so if...

We stayed at The Edge on Beaches in a 2 bedroom Garden Villa for 3 nights in November. The villa (upstairs/downstairs) was very spacious. 2 bathrooms upstairs (ensuite and main) and another toilet downstairs. Downstairs is open plan Kitchen/dining/lounge area and there is a nice flat screen television (bit on the small side for the size of the room though). The fan in the main bedroom didn't work but there is aircon in both rooms and one downstairs. There was a bit of noise from what seemed to be workers getting in late and going out very early. The pools are lovely but if you are staying in a Garden Villa it isn't very welcoming as they are situated directly outside the Poolside Villas and you can see directly into their Villas. The BBQ area is nice though in the middle. The beach is a small walk but is worth it as it is quite deserted. The only other thing i need to mention is my fiance and friend broke out in itchy bite marks on their legs and followed the usual patterns of the breakfast/lunch and dinner of bed bugs as they say (3 bites in a row), i did research it and it did look bed bugs to my knowledge (my Fiance works in construction and gets bitten by midgies and they were nothing like this). I did email Edge on beaches and they said they checked the bed and there was no bed bugs, it is hard to say as we did not check at the time we were there. They said it might have been midges but it is strange that my friend broke out 2 days later which also suggests bed bugs. Anyway apart from that it was a nice stay and the staff were friendly.

Room Tip: If you want to use the pools best to pay the little bit extra and get a poolside villa as the pools...

We were here for 2 nights and had a 2 bedroomed house . It was very clean and had all the usual facilities and also included a washing machine. We checked in and Margaret was most helpful and could not of done more to make our time here better. John was also very helpful and was on hand immediately to repair the front door and they could not help enough about the area and other places. Although the rooms can be rather dark in the lounge , I would imagine this being a bonus in the height of summer. There are shared bbq's in the main area between all the houses and also 4 pools that one is heated. It is a small walk to the beach but nothing too hard and although the main drive in area does have apartments being constructed this does not defer from the enjoyment of this place.

We stayed in a two storey house with two bedrooms. The house was large and clean, the rooms comfortable, the lounge very large and the equipment all one could require. We had arranged a late arrival which proved no problem. The lady at reception the next day was charming. So no worries about the house itself or its contents. However, if you think you're on the edge of the beach this is not so, you're just over 500 metres away. Also, the hoiuse backed on to the Captain Cook Drive, with a few metres of land, then a hedge separating us from the road noise. The ground floor terrace was on the road side. Other negative, the lounge was fairly dark at all times. However, as a base for visiting the surrounding area the house was large and comfortable with reverse Air Conditioning that was essential for heating on the cool winter nights.

Whilst the accommodation was excellent, and i mean four/five stars, the guy on reception was very negative towards visiting the museum and lieutenant cook's memorial, and could tell us little about what to do in the area. He seemed more interested in what he was doing rather than running a 4.5 star resort. The BBQs needed new burners and were difficult to start and the heated pool was cold (so why call it heated then?). I think for a resort with such potential, the management of the resort needs to rethink their attitude towards customer service. Room had a huge shower, washer and dryer, large fridge. There were four or five pools. Great place for kids.

It was late in the afternoon and plans got changed! Needed a bed out of town, had to find a place to stay and I am well over 100km away with a drive into the dark, ...on an unknown 'roo infested road, ...to an unknown destination!

It is in this type of situation you could get stressed and overcharged... (or both)

Found this motel in a directory, made the call, price was fine, got directions and was due to arrive later than normal check-in. With no phone signal for the drive (and hence no chance to advise how I was travelling) finally arrived about 30min later than expected...

The welcome was incredibly hospitable, not an inconvenience and very understanding (later found she was the owner).
I was due to leave early, so breakfast was provided into the fridge while I was out at dinner at the local Tavern (was also recommended with good directions).
Room was fantastic! Big, modern and clean.

Can't fault anything, would love to stay longer next time and base for some relax time.
