“Ignore previous reviews - underwhelming”
Reviewed November 29, 2011

We used the review to go to the Deck. Lovely setting, but the "Belgium Chef" had gone, and this was a very ordinary bistro. The only thing nice was the fried chips. Not worth going, and much better value in some of the other cafes around Agnes Water and 1770. Don't bother going.

“A wonderful restaurant in an unexpected location”
Reviewed September 13, 2010

Don't be put off by the fact that this restaurant is located in the grounds of a caravan park (Captain Cook Holiday Village). The atmosphere is lovely, looking out over park like grounds and entry is seperate to the caravan park. Mark, the owner and Diane, the waitress are professional with a relaxed and friendly manner that befits the 1770 holiday experience. The chef, Kevin who hails from Belgium, has worked in Melbourne where he won awards for "Best steak in Victoria and best chicken parmagiana in Victoria twice! We wanted to try everything on the menu but settled for the grilled spanish mackeral (delicious!) and a special of the day, bugs mornay with roasted kipfler potatoes and asian greens which my Wife says was one of the best meals she's ever eaten. We'd had trio of dips ($11.50) and bruchetta ($10.50) for entrees and were so full couldn't manage dessert. A good NZ bottle of sav blanc was $26.00 so the whole dining experience was very affordably priced at $114.00 including the dessert I just had to take home! Would we go back? - you bet ! and we'd skip lunch to make sure to do justce to the menu !
