We have previously stayed a week here and loved it. However this time the food was over 3 hours for simple meals and was awful. The service was really poor. We had expensive wines not ordered or delivered added to the bill and items taken from the mini bar by the cleaners both which we had to pay for. It was so sad as the inn is beautiful and our previous stay had been very diffrent.

We had a really lovely time at the Seahorse Inn, January 2011. I traveled there with my parents and sister, and it was just beautiful. The building is gorgeous, and the rooms are very well maintained. All the staff were lovely. We had a lovely spacious suite with a great view of the beach, which is only about 50m away. The beach is beautiful, long, and peaceful, not crowded. We had plenty of time to relax, unwind, rest and just enjoy our time together, and in this wonderful place. The food in the restaurant was also really lovely, and the cooked breakfast included in our stay was also a lovely bonus that we hadn't expected. Boydtown is not far from the town of Eden, close enough to shops and basics, and yet far enough away to feel like you're in another (very beautiful) world...I would highly recommend this lovely Inn to anyone who wants to get away - get some time out, peace, and just be able to relax and enjoy how beautiful the world is. I'll definitely be back, hopefully many times.

We had dinner in the bistro section of the Seahorse Inn while staying with friends in Eden and were very happy with all our meals. Meals are reasonably priced - entrees $14, mains $18 to ~ $30 and desserts $9.50. We had the "three dips" entree - the three dips were pureed capsicum with chilli, yoghurt and chives and kumera with cummin, all of which were very tasty. In our party we had three different mains - T-Bone steak, Jamaican prawns and chicken schnitzel. All were cooked to perfection (the T-Bone, which was ordered well done, was cooked through without the surface being charred) and the serving of prawns in the Jamaican prawns was very generous. The mashed potato with the T-Bone was very creamy, with lots of mushrooms in the accompanying mushroom sauce..

The kitchen in the bistro is located behind the order counter, so you can see the chefs cooking your meal. On the evening we were there the bistro was well patronised so, if attending during school holidays, would suggest reserving a table just in case.

We would definitely recommend the Seahorse Inn bistro for meals.

The seahorse inn was a real surprise! Beautiful hotel newly renovated in the last few years, right on the beach. Great spot but a bit out of eden so you need to drive into town. The food in the bistro area was good and the breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. The service at reception was not great but you are on a small town. Overall I would return next time im in the area

Turned up on spec for dinner at the Seahorse Inn. Beautiful surroundings, really well-tended gardens and pleasant sitting-out area.

We arrived around 7, knowing that Aus is an early-dining country, especially out of the cities. We turned left and found a kind of carpeted bistro, with a queue of people waiting (apparently) to place their orders. It was about half full, and the chalked-up menu sounded good so we waited around hopefully but nobody appeared whom we could ask about a table so we took a look at the other restaurant. It looked lovely and seemed to be a bit more upmarket. We went in - about 3 tables were occupied - and asked for a menu. The waitress hunted around then said she would go and look for one and could we take a seat.

Well, we waited 10 - 15 minutes, but she never returned. So we asked a second waitress, who immediately handed us a menu. It appeared to be identical to the first room's choices but we were hungry so we asked if a table would be available as we would now like to eat in there, and she said she would go and check for us to see if a table was available. We waited 10 - 15 minutes but she didn't return either. In the end, we found her behind the bar in the first dining room. "Oh - no walk-ins tonight," she said. "But why didn't you come and tell us?" we asked - reasonably. She simply shrugged. No apology, or even any acknowledgement that she had really been a bit rude.

It's a lovely-looking place but when you turn up, hungry and willing to spend, at a half-empty and a nearly-empty restaurant respectively, and it turns out that they can't take walk-ins, and they're at the mercy of that poor standard of service, it really doesn't look good for the future. Management - do you know about this? These people are letting you down - and clearly a great deal of money and effort has been invested in this great-looking place. There didn't seem to be anyone in charge.

As we trudged out, a lady in denim shorts assured us that the food was "beautiful" - but as we'd earlier seen her emerge from behind the bar herself, I doubt if her advice was wholly objective.

this hotel is really lovely if you are wanting a quiet boutique hotel. the rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable.
It was a lovely sunny day when we were there so sat outside, having a few vinos from the bar overlooking the ocean.
We went for stroll along the beach both in the afternoon and morning which was quiet and relaxing.
We were only there for a night, and we weren't loving for nightlife. The restaurant there suited us, we order a big seafood platter and a bottle of wine and by sydney standards it was very reasonable in price considering it was a really nice dinner.
A very charming option for a romatic break.

We were wondering about the choice we made with this hotel as it was the only one in Boydtown. We successfully booked over the internet and in due course started our two week vacation. We knew the Hotel was near Batemans Bay, so followed the directions and found this most charming boutique hotel settled within a beautiful garden setting and walking distance to the sea which you can see from the hotel. Staff were so helpful, food in the casual bistro was great and a vast selection on the menu. Room was quaint - we had an upstairs loft room overlooking the garden. Breakfast was served in the formal dining room overlooking the garden and sea. Would definately recommend it. It was a wonderful experience - the grand staircase/chandelier looks good too!!
