Another visit to this charming, gracious inn. The owner and chef extraordinaire, Desmond, goes out of his way to make you feel at home. His meals are delicious and the seafood is divine! The rooms are cozy and comfortable.

When we booked, there were not that many rooms left available and got the "David"room. It was roomy but had no views. As it was humid we put on the airconditioning unit which was in the window to discover that it was very noisy. The bed was not comfortable but it was just a one night stay. It was very clean though.
Breakfast was included in our price and was a choice of either poached eggs and sausage or an omellete with brie. Orange juice and good coffee. Service was excellent.
We had dinner there the night we arrived in the beautiful old diningroom. Nice tables, cozy and inviting. We both had a nice mixed salad with a raspberry vinaigrette to start. Then an excellent halibut in lobster sauce. Delicious. Very reasonable cost. Good chef. Again service was excellent.
Upon returning to Gaspe I would probably try another hotel for the room but would definitely go back to the restaurant for dinner.

While on a cycling trip, we stayed in one of the apartments at this hotel. Great value! Private entrance, 3 bedrooms, full kitchen, and laundry room - all for no more than the price of a standard hotel room. Breakfast was included, but we made our own. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

My wife and I spent two nights at this wonderful facility and would without any doubt highly recommend the Auberge William Wakeman to anyone. For starters we stayed in the “Rustic Room” which offered something totally different to a normal B&B room. The artifacts and set up were tastefully done in a very natural way. The service was on an overwhelming level of friendliness coupled with great quality meals. The menu offer a good choice of meals which included a tasteful and hearty breakfast.
We want to thank Desmond and his tremendous staff for making this a most memorable experience.
Thanks
Wayne & Katya

This was our second visit to Gaspé and we decided to splurge and stay at this beautiful, historic inn. We stayed for three nights and I must thank the kind, helpful staff: Réal, Didier and Patrick, who were attentive, kind, and ensured that we were well looked after. These gentlemen are outstanding employees.

Unfortunately there were a couple of issues that warrant attention from the owner. First, we stayed in the "Romantique" room, which was dusty. When I stay at an upscale inn, I expect that it will be well maintained and clean: during our stay, this was not the case. We found dust bunnies in our room and, similarly, the other rooms needed a dust cloth and vacuum. The place is beginning to look tired (e.g. the carpet on the stairs is worn out and there are several areas that merit patching and painting). Secondly, I don't like living out of my suitcase during a 3-night stay: there was no furniture or built-in shelves in which to store our belongings.

On a positive note, the service during meals was superb and the breakfasts were delicious and beautifully prepared. We also enjoyed our dinner. The zucchini soup was especially good.

We spent three nights at the William Wakeham and throughly enjoyed our stay. The inn is an original building from 1860 across the street from the river. While I was not crazy about the style of furniture and choice of decor, the house itself is quite nice with large rooms and high ceilings. The guest rooms are spacious and are more like a suite than a room. Our bathroom had a jacuzzi tub and a shower. A flat screen tv & wifi bring the room into the current century. But the real reasons to stay here are the fantastic restaurant and wonderful staff. The chef is a first rate and a real treasure to find in this small town. Menu is sophisticated and delicious. Wait staff double as hotel employees and are helpful & pleasant. We were delighted with our choice.

Had a wonderful dinner at the William Wakeham Maison. Superbly prepared food. Not budget category, but fresh and excellent. We passed it and decided to stop in and all members of our family were very happy with their meals. Outstanding, professional service.

Room Tip: Did not stay there but it was a beautiful historic home
