We stayed from Mon-Fri the pitch was big, a safe site for kids. The location is perfect, just meters from the beach. While the sea was cold the surfing was great fun.
If you are thinking of hiring a wetsuit and board and you surf for a couple of days it's cheaper to buy!
The facilities : The shower block was modern and very clean. The restaurant was a bit expensive but the food was good. The evening entertainment was ok and the pool was great fun they had loads of arm bands for the kids that weren't strong as the current on the lazy river was quite strong. The big blue slide was the best and my 5yr old could get enough. The pool could do with a bit of modernising. Lots of play areas dotted around the site for kids.

We have just returned after a short break in early April. We are repeat visitors so we must like the plaice.
We always stay in caravans and this time we stayed in a Windamere model which is a year old. It was clean and tidy. The beds were firm and comfortable. The bed linen was a noticeable upgrade on previous stays. space in the sleeping areas was at a premium, which could have been improved by loosing the sperate wc and just keping the wc in the shower room.
The park was immaculate, clean and tidy, everything working. I would expect this as it is early season. There are lots to do on the park with tennis courts, play areas and fishing lakes.

The staff are very helpful, helping out with the boys scooter problems and arranging early arrival for our next stay (hopefully)
Where the park falls down is its food offering. We try not to cook when on holiday and look for good meals at reasonable prices and we enjoy relaxing in the evening. The food restaurant offering is equivelent to one of the mass market value family reaturants with a lack of healthy options and variety. The wine and beer offer is once again mass market with a lack of variety. The takeaway is simply awful with nothing fresh everything is fried from the freezer. The feeling is that this is Parkdeans corporate offer and probably generates a lot of profit.
the entertainments is family based and works well but the main clubhouse is very dated and is in desperated need of new furniture and a spruce up. The food/bar area has a much more open and pleasent feel about it.
A much better food option is to walk to Croyde and eat at the Thatch or Billy Budds. The Thatch seems to do more meals while Billy Budds seems to apeal to the younger market with a selction of burgers. They seem to complement each other.
The pool at Ruda is a splash around pool and young kids love it. It is not a pool to do a lot of swimming in but ideal for a bit of fun.

The loaction is simply stunning, the beach is long, wide and ideal for families with the sand dunes for the kids if hey get fed up with the sea. Parkdean own the whole area and keep it very clean. the only problem with this is they have the monopoly on beach side shops. You may want to walk into Croyde for your beach requiremnets. There are plenty of walks in the area to suit all tastes. A walk around Baggy point to Puttisburgh beach is a favourite.
The village of Croyde is a 10 minute walk and is easily accesible form the beach as well as the holiday park. Croyde has numerous pubs, restaurants, surf shops and is well worth spending time in.
In summary,
A very clean park in a wondrful location. my only gripe is with the corporate side of Parkdean.

We stayed here in March 2014 for 7 nights. We stayed in a static caravan - we decided to upgrade our accomadation, and we are glad we did. The caravan was roomy, plenty of space for a running toddler. The rooms were lovely.Everything we needed was provided (kitchen stuff, bedding etc). We had been in 2013 and had a cheap caravan that didn't have central heating, the caravan was extremely cold as only a gas fire in lounge, so bedrooms were that cold that we had our then baby in the same room as us - this time however, we had central heating and at the touch of the button the place was warm and cosy. We moved the single beds to one side and put our little ones travel cot up in one of the bedrooms and there was still plenty of space to move around.
The park itself is fabulous. We went to the disco every night, which our 18 month old loved. We played bingo every night and thoroughly enjoyed it. We used the swimming pool every day, that was lovely and staff in there are on top form to sort out any people messing around. (there was one couple, diving off the side and running and jumping in - doesn't phase me but with a little one and other babies/children in pool, was a little dangerous). The amusements kept us entertained while waiting for bingo.
We ate in the pub on our first night and it was a slight let down as we were kept waiting for food for an hour - it was a Monday night and very empty, so why the wait I have no idea.. It was nice food, nothing special but nothing to complain about. We hadn't eaten from the chip shop. We had used the shop a few times, this is good, some things are a little expensive, but was good as forgot a few things like washing up liquid but that only cost 99p, along with clingfilm for 99p.
The whole place over all is great. We first visited in 2013, and returned this year. My partner has been coming here since little and we then returned as our own family. Its perfect for family holiday as everything is on site. You are very near to beach. Its just great overall!

Room Tip: We upgraded to a Lynton Caravan from a Torrington.

Just returned from Ruda with our kids and another couple.

On arrival we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a lodge across the road for an extra £100 for the long weekend, which we did and were very pleased with it. The lodge was spacious with a double and two good size twin rooms. Kitchen was well equipped with a dishwasher and washer dryer.

Now, for us, this was a lovely unexpected bonus, however... If id have paid full price for this lodge I would have been disappointed (I think they're in excess of £400 for a weekend) as in some places they were a little rough around the edges and could do with a bit of a makeover. Having said that the top of the range lodges which are bigger and more expensive again looked even nicer.

We will be back next year and as always will book a normal caravan because they are just fine for what you need for a weekend by the sea. If they offer us an upgrade again at a bargain price of course we will take it, but you wouldn't catch me paying full price for one!

We have just spent a great week at Ruda, fabulous park, great staff and brilliant location. We stayed in an older van but it was perfect, clean, well equipped and well worth the price we paid.
There is a great swimming pool with slides etc. which would keep kids amused for hours. All in all a great place to holiday.

This was our second visit to Ruda park as it was so well suited to us last time. It was only one of those cheapo sun holidays so £109 for fri to mon.
Got to the park and spoke to a lovely, cheerfull chappy called Mike at Reception. He was very welcoming and friendly and quite frankly, couldn't do enough for me. The caravan was fine. No issues there, everything worked, all clean and tidy and there was even a loo roll in the bathroom. (its the small touches )The shop is well stocked and has a good selection of cheapie toys to keep the sprogs entertained. The restaurant was fine with an attached play area for the little ones. Well priced kids meals and a fast and efficient service. The entertainment wasn't really my kinda thing but the children loved it and the troupers were all excellent with the children. The amusements were all in good working order and the outside adventure play ground was superb. I will most definitely be going back there again. I would recommend it to families.

Room Tip: No need to bother4 upgrading as the basic caravans are more than adequate.

Every year we used to go to Ruda apartments which we're delightful. Sadly due to lack of planning we had to stay in a caravan instead of an apartment by the sea. Can i just tell you to start with how awfully overpriced these cabins are. Yes i know it was the middle of summer but £1500 for 1 1/2 weeks to stay in a soul sucking caravan!!!!???? And not only were we staying in a sad caravan but the weather was so foul, I honestly thought that the poorly built caravans were going to be lifted from the ground. Now for the worst part. As we did the quick check through we found what the cleaners had failed to. An old slipper with one of the bunny ears missing, a condom in the shower and a box of opened tampons. And should i even begin to mention the entertainment? A Neil Diamond tribute act..... I shall say no more. Needless to say we left 2 days early and will sadly not be staying with them again. Thank you very much.
