We have just come back from a four day break in Devon which we stayed in this jewel of a place as my wife is a member of unison we got a 15% discount. So if your a member I would definitely recommend you try it out the moment we got there I knew it was going to be great we checked in the staff at front counter were really friendly we got our room key went to unpack the room was clean very spacious with the added delight of a kitchen thrown in it was very clean I might add as well we also had a patio to sit out the beach was close at hand just at the back of the hotel it as a swimming pool jacuzzi steam room sauna gym all free to use it as thing for children as well food is really good staff are very helpful all in all it is a real treat will be going back very soon

We got a late deal which was a total bargain and had 4 days of glorious sunshine. Stayed in an Atlantic Cottage which, although would benefit from updating soft furnishings, are all in all comfortable and have everything you need including two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen.
Staff were friendly and helpful and I can't really find fault with anything. It takes around 5 minutes over sand dunes to walk to beach which is breathtakingly beautiful and very quiet at the resort end. It's a bit steep but my 3 year olds managed it ok.
Our cottage overlooked the park which was ideal and the children really enjoyed the kids play room on site.

We have just spent a long weekend here and loved it. It is fair to say the chalets are a little tired but they are definitely clean which is better than new but unclean! Perfect location for beach and village and the facilities were ideal for our two teenage children.

Arrived with a coach party of over fifties .after traveling all day to be given key to chalet 3a on opening door we were hit with a damp musty smell we walked in and the place was not at all what we expected they advertise these chalets as nostalgic i am sorry they should be knocked down and replaced .fortunatly we were able to afford a room in the hotel.I am sad to have to write this other people in our group had nice chalets.every other aspect of the place is wonderful the food is the best we have ever had even beats some of the 5star hotels we have stayed in .The staff could not do enough for us all,the hotel is very good with all the extras you could want.and the setting is beautifull the view from the top of the sand dunes behind the the complex is to die for who needs to go abroad we would come again but book a hotel room

I had been getting offers via the Union for a while but it wasn't until I showed my colleague a picture of a place I liked and she said "Oh, you must go to Croyde Bay then!" that I realised what a gem it was. We went for our anniversary for a 3 night mini-break and were very impressed by the standards of the accommodation (we did self-catering: sizeable and well-equipped kitchen!).

The beds were wonderful and this is something I don't often say as a person who suffers from bad back. The light-bulbs are super energy efficient, which had the downside that you had to o to the toilet by the equivalent of the light of the moon, and that is not a full-moon on a cloudless night. I recommend a torch for night-time use of the bathroom, it takes so long to get light.

Beach is a five minute walk away (the UK's best surfing beach and apparently on of Europe's top ones!), nice sign-posted walks around through the country side across the typical west-country spectacular coastal scenery of cliffs, rocks and sandy beaches, interspersed by meadows full of rare plants and insects (not seen this many butterflies in a long time - sadly not that many horse-flier either, still nursing the bite, so take your Citronella/Tea tree oil or eat lost of garlic or whatever works for you to keep them off!!!).

Good local walking/cycling maps with helpful commentary ("puddles after rain", "hard cycle when wet" etc.) available from Putsborough beach car-park office (£2 good value for a map, however parking starts from £7.50, yikes...)

Didn't try the leisure facilities or entertainment at the resort, but pool and gym looked good, spa treatments apparently available, evening entertainment is what you would expect at this kind of place and we went out so not much to say.

Slight downside: some of the dishes in the cupboards were greasy and dirty, so we had to wash them on arrival and keep the washed set out for our own use. Bring detergent and tea towels if you do self catering! Bath towels are provided. The fridge was so cold we had frozen raspberries, frozen yoghurt, frozen cheese, frozen butter and pastrami the morning after our arrival, the milk was still liquid though, but best to check settings and turn down a bit once it has started.

Room Tip: If you get a ground floor room in the hotel on the Eastern side you can have breakfast on the terrace in the sun!
