We have just returned from a much needed break with daughter, husband and dog. We stayed in a Waggy Tails Cottage which was very functional. It was fairly clean although there were human hairs around the bath and the floor felt very gritty underfoot. The kitchen was well equipt albeit a little grubby. The enclosed area for the dog was perfect and the accomodation was well appointed for the lovely local walks. Bring some sleep shields if you like a darkened room as the curtains are very flimsey and do not block out any light. My daughter and I were hoping to use the spa and were extremely dissappointed by the limited opening times ie from 9am -5pm on Sunday (the day we had planned to go out for the day!) and only after 6pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. The lockers in the pool werent working so consequently we had to use a box by the pool for our belongings, shoes were left by the entrance to the pool and were all over the place. The pool wasnt very warm either. We had booked the food package which was good value although the vegetarian options were limited to only two dishes a pizza or a lasagne and we were told that there was a cavery for the meat eaters in the party on the phone but that didnt materialise. The staff serving were friendly but the service was very slow considering the amount of people using the restaurant. There are a number of eateries in the village and if we come again we shall explore these. We tried the The Thatch for lunch and it was wonderful. We were certainly expecting more than the limited menu we were given having read previous reviews. I should imagine if you were staying for a full week the choices offered for main courses would be pretty boring. The entertainment for the children looked fun, the adults entertainment that we experienced consisted of a disco and a quizz. Perhaps the facilities were not fully functioning due to the low numbers. All the staff were lovely, very helpful and polite and the site is in a great position. We will try and come back later on in the season for another try but overall it was a relaxing, value break.

We stayed for a weekend in September, if some parts a little tired exceptional facilities and very clean, perfect for dog owners and you are on the dunes in less than 5 mins. We were out f season so very quiet, BBQ area and private enclosed terraces safe for your pooch. Reccommended - will stay again although on the expensive side.

Another excellent new year celebration at Croyde. The waggy tail cottage was very clean, well appointed, comfortable and extremely dog friendly. We booked the meal package and were not disappointed. The food throughout our stay was excellent and the staff really made an effort to make the dining area very festive and special. We celebrated the new year with an gala dinner followed by dancing to a live band and then a disco - a great party night. Complimentary wine before the meal and champagne at midnight followed by bucks fizz for breakfast next day was a nice touch too. The whole package was brilliant value for money and we shall certainly be returning next year.

We have been coming to Croyde Unison for 10 years and for the past 3 have stayed in the Waggy Tails Cottages with our 2 dogs. Could not fault it at all. Accommodation always clean and tidy with plenty of room for the 3 of us plus dogs. We always eat on site at the Buffet Restaurant for all you can eat breakfast and dinner. We are always spoilt for choice and the food is excellent as is the service. The staff are always polite and nothing is too much trouble. Short walk to the beach although at high season dogs are not allowed on Croyde Beach so we take them a short drive to Saunton Sands which they love! Have been to other Holiday Camps in the past but none a patch on this one. Very relaxing and wouldn't go anywhere else. Entertainment for kids is great and for Elvis fans the best tribute act performs here weekly. Never get tired of seeing Barry Paul as Elvis!

Have being coming to the same site for nearly 47 years (sad I know) being as i am 48 my Mom has being coming here since she was 18 (now 82) There have been changes and have always stopped in the classic chalets during the summer months. Now food not as good as it was years gone by. Breakfast toasters are useless (conveyor type Travel lodges use these and are setup and then remove knobs so cannot be changed) But apart from that a fantastic location and always very clean and will be returnig again and again. Great for families with small children as no danger from any traffic and can explore to their hearts content. Brought my two kids here every year since my kids were 3 months old and its a way of life for them. Bit expensive but this means it is a bit excusive to be honest.
All round (having also stopped in the Hotel) top knotch

Room Tip: Have a room facing the Beach

We needed a one-night stay on a Monday in November - after some uncertainty necessitating a return telephone call, we were offered a double room at £128. Because of previous knowledge of the swimming pool and leisure centre, I eschewed one of the many, much cheaper B and B 's in the village.

On arrival it transpired that the swimming pool/ leisure centre is closed on Mondays - I felt that I should been told this on booking. The Hotel part of the Unison base was cold and soulless and was open for one party of "tinsel and Turkey" coach- trippers in addition to ourselves.

Our room, whilst spacious and well-appointed, was gloomy, especially in the bathroom area. The lack of light was compounded by missing light-bulbs, duly reported to Reception.

The whole experience was disappointing and extremely poor value at £128 for the night.

Room Tip: Book in summer months only, when Staff and clientelle should make this location a more pleasant expe...

Ideal out of season getaway if you want good value comfortable accommodation in a lovely part of the country. We appreciated the 'extra long' weekend break, the use of jacuzzi and pool, and first class warm accommodation and good food.
