At our trip to Trapani we ended up in San Pietro twice.
You have to make a reservation for the table, otherwise the locals take it all, and maybe, just maybe, you could have a tiny seat at the second serving at 10pm.
The first time you go try have the "fish dish", they bring a large dish of fresh, raw fish for you to choose, then bring your choice to cook in the kitchen. Which, by the way, is fully inside your vision, it is fascinating to see the chef cooking.
My best recommendations!

Thank Henning W

What a find!! We came across Hostaria San Pietro whilst doing a bit of research on Tripadvisor as this was our first time in Trapani. Due to the positive reviews we decided to try it and we were not disappointed.
We walked past and it was absolutely heaving despite in only being a Tuesday!! We decided to return for lunch at a later date and we enjoyed it so much we booked for our evening meal on the Saturday.
It's a typical rustic restaurant, quite small (seats about 30) with mismatched chairs, it's not the fancy fine dining type but more of a locals favourite, which is what we prefer!
Dining at lunch time it's much quieter which provided us with the opportunity to talk to the staff. All were extremely friendly, especially Aldo!! Together with Tonino and Marzenia they talked us through the restaurants specialities, (thankfully some of the staff speak english!) rather than just giving us a menu, which was a nice touch. We had the mixto starter which varies on each visit, at least 10 different antipastis varying from octopus to excellent potato croquettes.(10euro) We followed this with typical Sicilian pasta with prawns and mussels. (12euro) All always freshly prepared in the kitchen that you can see straight into. The white wine is lovely (6euro a litre!) and their take on the Canolli dessert is perfect! To finish the meal off nicely try Tonino's homemade digestive, it was superb!
Dining in the evening the place is full of locals, Tonino made us feel really welcome despite us struggling with the language barrier. If you don't speak italian you're best off pointing and asking for what locals are having rather than ordering off the translated menu. What ever you want that's fish related and in season you can get!! (Bare in mind that there is no meat options)
With candles lit and the house white wine flowing it's the perfect Sicilian experience. The restaurant has excellent food and a very friendly atmosphere. It's not the cheapest place in Trapani but you certainly get value for money! I would strongly recommend booking in advance though if you plan to dine in the evening or you can expect to queue outside for a table!

This place got full even in the middle of May, while there is still time before the high season. Definitely book ahead. If you do - you are in for an excellent treat.

This is a true trattoria, family run, with great food and casual service, which cannot be more Italian :-) Antipasti are perfect, our pasta was al dente and the sauce to die for. Squid and Octopus were so soft you would not believe it's possible. Limoncello got to our heads afterwards - make sure you give it a try.

The place is loud and the kitchen is right next to the tables, which means you can observe the work inside (all of it - yes!). This is not a posh restaurant, so do not come if you are so afraid of your clothes full of smells once you leave.

If you need one, true Italian experience in Trapani - this is a place to get it!

Make sure you meet Tonino, guy's a real star! Bravissimo!

Recommended by the girl of the B&B Cortile di Venere, I really enjoyed everything I ate here. The best...I think the busiati cambero rosso...

This very cosy restaurant close to the Vatican is excellent for lunch or dinner with friends and family, including children. While prices are reasonable, the food is far above the usual standard of restaurants in tourist dense areas. The service is personal and friendly, but never intrusive. The kitchen and bathroom are impeccably clean.
