The location next to the beach is amazing. The terrass on the roof top as well. The rooms are tidy, big and very nicely decorated. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I can truly recommend this hotel!

La Gancia Residence is perfectlylocated overlooking the sea in the historic area of Trapani. The views from the breakfast terrace and upper floors are truly inspiring. The building is a beautifully restored lodging house and the architect has done a superb job in transforming this into the present day residence. The attention to architectural and artistic detail in the bedrooms and common areas is very impressive. The staff of La Gancia could not be more welcoming and helpful. Rosanna, Nino and Claudia are to be congratulated on their friendliness and willingness to assist with any query.Indeed all of the staff of this hotel are immensely friendly. They will recommend restaurants and help with any transportation arrangements. La Gancia's rooms are well equipped, have wi-fi facilities and are spotlessly clean. Breakfast is delightful, served on the upper floor with its views over the old town and sea. The fitness room is another most welcome feature. La Gancia is in a perfect location for both its views and the convenience of restaurants and cafes. We recommend it very highly.

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra for a sea view bedroom

Residence La Gancia most probably is the best accommodation one can find. Considering that in Trapani all are mainly self catering apartments, La Gancia was a 4 star hotel, with a very abundant breakfast. Rooms are quite spacious. Very original the ones with glass floor. The staff were all helpful. Rosanna, Rosario, Tonino and the nice girl at breakfast, Veronica( who makes the best cappuccino) They all have a nice and welcoming attitude. The same goes for the taxi driver Aldo, whom we booked through the hotel. He was very helpful and informative. Also all speak good English.
The location is excellent, in piazza Mercato del Pesce, near lungomare, and the main streets - Via Torrearsa, Via Garibaldi and via Vittorio Emmanuele in the old town of Trapani, (yet it's very quiet, almost a hideaway). Just a few steps away, there is a nice bar - Bar Il Regina (i think its called) just as you start Via Garibaldi.
Me and my sister stayed 4 days......and we visited different places. We went for a day to Palermo, where we also visited Mondello and Montepellegrino. It's very easy to get the auto bus. Via Torrearsa takes you strait to the port from La Gancia and vice versa. Even to get the motoscafi for one of the islands. We visited Favignana. Erice is not to missed......quite an old unique place with cobbled streets. It can be reached by cable car.
San Vito Lo Capo beach is very nice, with lots of restaurants around. It's worth a visit.
The food is very good, though we didn't go to a lot of restaurants in Trapani, as we were always roaming. In Mondello we ate very good, also in San Vito and Erice. In Trapani we went to Taverna Paradiso (close to La Gancia) and Le Mura, that is near Torre Ligni. The pizzeria in Lungomare (near Taverna Paradiso) is also really good.
All in all, Trapani is quite ideal for a short break.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking 'Piazza Mercato del pesce ' or sea view better than roms overlooking court...

The girl on reception bent over backwards to offer help and suggestions. The location was great, the room enormous (junior suite) and the breakfasts delicious. Once you find the place parking was really easy. A computer is provided for guests as well as a gym and reading room. We felt very pampered.

Room Tip: We had a great room on the second floor.

We selected this hotel for its central location, sea view and ease of parking and all met our expectations beautifully. Our room, overlooking the ocean and former fish-market-turned-Christmas-market, was lovely, quiet, clean, and spacious, as was the bathroom, though the water was non-potable. Lighting in the room was comfortably bright, including bedside lamps. The room included an eating area with cooking/washing facilities, table and chairs, coffee, refrigeration, and an automatic scent sprayer that was a bit strong. Initially, we took out its batteries, but learned that the natural aroma of the seaside room was slightly moldy, so we put the batteries in when we left the room. The receptionists were gracious and knowledgeable and helped us be in the right place at the right time for the Immaculate Conception parade as well as providing excellent dinner recommendations. Sleeping was delightful in very comfortable bed although huge storm our last night was a bit disconcerting. We expected the plastic-enclosed breakfast patio to have been blown off the roof, but the Trapanese must be used to this, and all was well. The breakfast buffet was the most full and varied of our 3-week trip. A side trip to Nubia for the salt flats, museum, restaurant (Salina Calcasi), and sighting of flamingoes in the wild was a special treat. Erice, too, is always lovely for a visit, though we find it a bit quiet in December.

Room Tip: Room 306 was quiet, spacious, has a kitchen area, and a lovely view.

Following Trip Advisor recommendations regarding Erice, we avoided staying in Erice and opted for this hotel. Not so easy to find due to a lack of signs (the fishmarket is really just a half moon shaped arcade and not so obvious), even with a satnav. Parking on the road, if you can find some. Superior Room very comfortable, staff very kind and friendly. Breakfast fine but breakfast room too small - got crowded on a Monday morning even though there were few guests in the hotel. We did a whirlwind tour of Sicily - in retrospect, Erice and Trapani could easily be left out to spend more time in Siracusa (Ortigia) and Taormina and surroundings. The trip from Trapani to Siracusa via Selinunte (disappointing) was extremely time consuming and some of the towns extraordinarily unattractive (Agrigento must be avoided at all costs!) - it would have been much easier to drive there from Palermo directly. IF you intend on going to Erice, I would agree that it's a better idea to stay in Trapani. The drive up to Erice is a bit hairbendy, but overall very manageable.

Room Tip: higher floors would be preferable to see the sea.
