Don't be put off by the imediate surroundings of this unique town house in the unspoilt fishermans area of Trapani. We arrived in the dark and the high buildings and quiet streets seemed a bit un-nerving. But once inside Enzo's home everything changed - a table was set on one of the many terraces with welcome drinks and delicious snacks. The tall thin house has been transformed by Enzo into a colourful tower of unique bedrooms full of treasures, and exotic terraces lined with Enzo's fantastic collection of Sicillian and Tunisian tiles. From the topmost terrace you can see the Egadi Islands shimmering in the sea. This is as far away from a chain hotel as you could wish. It is a very personal and thoroughly welcoming haven surrounded by a thriving fishing port. Highly recommended.

We opted for Argo's House largely based on TripAdvisor reviews--and examination of maps that suggested the location might be away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was the right decision based on our two-day stay. Enzo is as hospitable as anyone could be, offering fresh fruit upon arrival, cut flowers, pleasant company at meals, insights on places to eat and advice on things to see. We felt like house guests rather than random visitors. The house is a little quirky--it's not the equivalent of a five-star hotel--but that's part of its charm. As long as you build that distinction into your expectations, you are virtually certain to have a delightful stay. And parking is free!

What a lovely B & B, Enzo treated us like we were his friends rather than guests staying at his B & B. The house and terrace is lovely and has been made with love and a great natural eye for design. The breakfast was delicicious and Enzo brings out all of his lovely crockery for a beautifully dressed table. Argo is truely loved by his owner and very well behaved. I hope I can visit Enzo and Argo again one day.

…at the “Casa di Argo”.
Fellow travellers, are you looking for your ideal host in Trapani? Then look no further: Argo (ops, sorry...) Enzo and his dog Argo are your ideal companions to discover West Sicily (and Trapani) many wonders.
As soon as you step in The “Casa di Argo” B&B (“House of Argo”) Enzo will effortlessly manage to make you feel at home, welcoming you to his charming apartment conveniently located near the city centre/pedestrian area of Trapani, introducing you to his registered “neighborhood watchdog” Pippo and of course Argo, the house dog and its fluffy pets. Then he will show you the view from his terraces decorated with Tunisian-style tiles and full of sculptures and knick-knacks while treating you to a delicious and perfectly chilled glass of white wine accompanied by all sorts of delicacies, even if it’s well past midnight. Every morning you will find fresh local produce from the nearby market for breakfast, served with Enzo’s best china in its lovely veranda, together with a cup of strong Italian coffee and a smile.
What else there is to say? The stay was too short, the room and the B&B in general was spotlessly clean and originally furnished and decorated, Enzo is an exquisite master of the house, passionate about ballet and classical music, food and knowledgeable about almost anything Sicilian and Italian at large. He is a kind soul that will make you feel instantly at ease. What else could you be looking for?

The Casa di Argo is almost at the end of the narrow peninsula which is the westernmost tip of Trapani, Italy on the beautiful island of Sicily. The host has remodeled the building which was erected in the 19th century to provide an ample covered terrace for taking breakfast and to provide several other terraces higher up to take advantage of the gorgeous views of the Mediterranean and the off shore islands as well as the hill town of Erice. The owner has chosen the tasteful furnishings throughout well as well as covering some of the walls of the terraces with Sicilian tile. The host and owner, Enzo, is a great host, relaxed, open and welcoming. He will represent Sicilian hospitality at its best. After a very restful night in the quiet, air conditioned bedroom we awoke to a beautifully presented Continental breakfast with fresh orange juice, lots of coffee, fresh bread (a type of croissant called cornetto), yogurt, and jams. The owner's dog is a companionable handsome animal, not at all intrusive, for whom the B and B is named, that is Argo. If you like the sea, Enzo will have good recommendations for quiet beaches. He will also have recommendations for the easy to reach historical and archeological sites in which this part of Sicily abounds. And then of course there is Trapani itself, a busy port city with ferries leaving for Africa, Europe, off shore islands, a medieval center, and a splendid street of later, Baroque archetecture.

Vincenzo was the perfect host, perhaps the best we experienced in 6 weeks on the road in Italy. His charming, quirky apartment is situated in this fishing village with views from the roof top terraces across the harbour. The room was air conditioned with a very comfortable bed and good quality cotton sheets. The breakfasts were delicious with very fresh produce. Trapani is perfectly situated to make day trips by car to many of the sites of western Sicily such as Palermo,Erice, Segesta and Selinunte.

We really enjoyed our time at La Casa di Argo (Argo is Enzo's amiable dog) and could not have had a more friendly and hospitable host. Enzo was welcoming and helpful in so many ways. We hadn't rented a car as we were there for a short time and not only did Enzo enthusiastically suggest places we could visit but took us to one himself and also was happy to drop us at the station or at the funicular going up to Erice (a charming hilltop village above Trapani that you reach by cable car) The house is artistic and full of character with several attractive colourful terraces and our room was very comfortable, mercifully cool (in the July heat) and we had our own private bathroom. Breakfasts were delicious with different things every day, savoury and sweet with lots of fruit and freshly squeezed juice. A wonderful introduction to Sicily and to Trapani, which we knew nothing about and is well worth visiting.
