Villa Plori

Searching on internet we found Villa Plori. What a wonderfull place, what a wonderfull position but above all what a wonderfull people. Villa plori was THE discovery of our trip to South Crete.
Arriving in Makry-Gialos we missed Villa Plori, so as we parked our car, we went on walking and as we were near to Villa Plori a very nice Greek lady asked us: Olandi ?? Yes we were Dutch, so immediately she made us clear she was expecting us, she was lovely Ioanna, waiting for the guests of Villa Plori. Very nice lady that showed us the private parking place.
She contacted the owner, Manolis Atzarakis, who appeared within two minutes and let us enter into our studio. Groundfloor, very well equiped, spacious and cool. Backside at the street but at the front a nice terrace, a beautifull patio/garden and directly at a sandy beach. On the beach for Villa Plori guests two beachbeds and a sunumbrella are for free and always available.
It was wonderfull.
Within a couple of minutes we felt at home away from home.
There is free WIFI in your studio, very good connection. The studio is very comfortable, styled in a Greek way, good matrass, free airco, good bathroom, including free use of safe.Kitchen sufficiently equiped, for Greece even good. If you want it is possible to cook a simple meal yourself.
We have seen a lot of Greek/Cretan accomodations but the posistion of Villa Plori was something we never had experienced before. We only booked for 5 nights that was our only mistake.
Studio was cleaned every 2 days also new towels. In 5 dyas we received once new bedsheets.
The beach is wonderfull, sandy and slowly getting deeper. Two showers and watersupply is available if you come from the beach to wash your feet.
Next door is a quiet bar where you can have your drinks and snacks. Really good posotion.
But the most beautifull of all is the hospitality of the owners, Manolis and Lina Atzarakis, they are absolutely wonderfull. Always prepared to help you, answering your questions but never disturbing.
Manolis and Lina thanks for a wondefull time.

Room Tip: All rooms are very good the only preference you have to make is downstairs or upstairs depending of...

We have just returned from our first visit to Villa Plori in Makriyialos, having enjoyed a wonderful two weeks. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with fantastic views across the sea 30 yards away. A beatiful kept patio area extends across the back of the buildings with access straight onto the wonderful and sandy beach of Makriyialos. This is perfect for children as the seabed is also sandy and the sea is shallow for quite a long way out. Children can play safely and paddle without the need for footwear. Manolis and Lena are the most kind and considerate hosts, for whom nothing is too much trouble, providing little extras, which were much appreciated. The studio was serviced every other day, and the towels changed at the same time. The village was very quiet and the beach uncrowded, we certainly expect to return to Plori again. We would also recommend Makriyialos for a restful and relaxed holiday, with some lovely walks and places to visit, and very friendly and helpful people. It is worth the extra transfer time and it has more of the traditional Greek feel than some of the resorts closer to Heraklion.

Room Tip: All the rooms have the same fantastic views across the sea, with private patio or balcony. There is...

Took the first flight of the year arriving on 20th April. Makrigialos was preparing for a late Greek Orthodox Easter and the beginning of the season . A lovely welcome as always from Lena and Manolis . For the first two weeks we had Plori to ourselves and were often the only people on the beach ---long sunny days with temperatures in the 30s. .Weather cooled a little after this but have sunbathed and swam every day . Great walking into the mountains and around the coast . Sitting on the terrace looking at the sea ( 16th May ) ----- going home in two days. Will be back in October and on first flight out again next season .

Beautiful apartments on a lovely beach. Owners, Manolis and Lina are warm, welcoming and very friendly. The location is ideal, can't fault it. First stayed there when they were first built in the 80's and the apartments have been fully modernised quite recently.

No travel company go there at the moment, however, the journey from the airport is well worth it!!!!

Room Tip: All rooms have sea view and there is a choice of apartments or studios - which are very spacious wit...

Spent a wondeful 9 nights at Villa Plori in September 2012. The location couldn't be better, straight on the beach with bars and taverns within a few feet of your front door. We stayed in Room 6 which had 2 single beds with proper cretan bed bases (great for a bad back). The kitchenette has all you need for the odd basis meal (hotplate, kettle, toater, sandwich toaster) and with satelite tv and free wifi and sunbeds on the beach to top it all off.

The owners are fabulous and could not do enough for you, but were not in your face. All 10 rooms (2 apartments and 8 studios) have wonderful sea views so no worrying if you will be stuck facing the road or a car park!

Resort itself is very friendly and has a relaxing atmosphere. There are a lot of great little bars around the harbour to relax in, but you must try Revans, next to the Plori. Great value for money and always very friendly.

Overall a perfect place to relax and enjoy some well earned peace....but not too much.

Nice spacious rooms just in front of the sea with a traditional Cretan decoration. Just next to a supermarket, opposite to a free parking area and close to restaurants Villa Plori holds a preferential position in Makrys Gialos. Sunbeds and umbrellas just in front of the rooms are offered to the clients for free. The beach itself is wonderful: shallow, calm, very clear and warm. Finally, the owners are very discreet, but also kind and willing to help if you need anything.

Just returned from our seventh stay at this wonderfully located apartment. The owners, Manolis & Lina, are so kind and welcoming - they always come round to greet us and to say goodbye and Lina will often appear with some gorgeous home made cake. We have never had any issues with cleaning - it's always spotless. Joanna, who cleans, usually tries to wait until it's convenient for guests to accomodate those of us who like a lie in!
Weather was superb and the sea really warm - some locals tell us that this area has its own micro climate making it slightly warmer and drier than the rest of Crete. The SE coast certainly seems to have a slightly longer season than the rest of the island.
