We have just spent 6 days over Easter in the Elbsandsteingebirge. This comprises both Saxon Switzerland and Bohemian Switzerland. I'll mention two trips - these experiences couldn't be more different. A place you have to see in Saxon Switzerland (but should avoid on the weekend) is Bastei. There you see buses parked and you find only up-market hotels & restaurants. When you make your way through clouds of people you'll get rewarded with excellent views. Walk just 5 minutes away and you'll see far less hustling and bustling. Much quieter is a tour of Bohemian Switzerland starting in Hrensko. On the Czech side we were nearly alone along the path and where wondering whether boats would be going (as there are parts where you cannot hike anymore but have to take the boat). With two people we ate in a restaurant in Mezná for a bit more than 8 € (yes, they even state the price in Euro on the bill and gladly accept the currency).
