Sometimes you are just lucky! Located next to the charming Zugspitzebahn - and thereby within easy reach of the ski slopes - this hotel has spacious rooms, friendly service and good food and wine. A great swimming pool and sauna/spa makes this hotel even better. Highly recommended!

I went on a business trip to Munich and my wife and I decided to go to the Alps for a weekend afterwards.
We chose this hotel because of its location and partially because we booked late and this hotel came up in our searches with a keen rate and it seemed to be quite pretty.
We were not disappointed. The hotel has got ample parking (we came with a hire car) and it looks very inviting. Our room was in the main building with the reception and restaurant but there are 2 other buildings belonging to this hotel, although both are really only a stone's throw away from the main building. So I can't see any advantages of being in one or the other. Actually, if your room was in the other 2 buildings you'd have a chance it was facing the rail track with a very nice view!
We booked half-board and both the breakfast and dinner were good. There was plenty of food and they had a good variety. For dinners they had themed nights but even if you weren't into a specific "themed food", there was plenty of other stuff to choose from. I think the half-board option is a good idea because it means you don't have to search for restaurants after a full day out, remember this hotel is in a pretty rural location.
The room was ok, it looked a little "tired" in places but it's not a big issue and it was clean and everything was working well. The bed was very comfortable.
The hotel is great for trekking to the Höllental Klamm (the entrance is just by the hotel), it's a 10 minutes' walk to the Alpspitzbahn and Kreuzeckbahn lifts/cable cars (bringing you up to "Garmisch Classic") and it's a short ride to the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain and also to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. You can get to both also with the local Zugspitzbahn, which stops basically outside the hotel. Actually, this local train also goes up to the top of the Zugspitze through some forests (it's obviously pretty steep) but I'd always prefer to use the cable car, you have a lot nicer views from there.
I will definitely stay here again when I go back next year in June after my annual conference in Munich. But next time I'll stay a little longer :)

Room tip: Most rooms have some sort of nice view, so don't worry too much where they place you.

Beautiful hotel situated partway up mountain about 3 1/2 miles from Garmisch. Excellent breakfast included in room price. Great view of mountains. A fast-moving stream was located outside our window. Has all the amenities for those who use them.

My vacation in the mountains included 1 night at another location and 4 at Sentindo. I wish I could have stayed 4 more. The hotel property is next to the Hammersbach train stop on the Zugspitzebahn. The staff are friendly and accommodating. My room had an amazing mountain view and from the balcony you could hear the babbling brook. The breakfast buffet offered a vast selection of very good food. After trekking through the fields or mountains during the day, you could relax in the whirlpool, sauna, have a therapeutic bath or massage. You could then have a drink at one of the hotel bars. If planning a trip to the mountains, the Höllentalklamm entrance is outside the hotel and the Alpspitz cable car station is a 15 minute walk. It is a wonderful place to base yourself for a weeklong mountain stay. Make sure to get your 6 day Zugspitzcard at the station in Garmisch.

My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying here for two nights. Our room was beautiful - overlooking the scenic mountains and we had our own balcony on the second floor. The beds were super comfortable and the room was spotless and clean. The breakfast buffet in the mornings was NOT your average bland continental breakfast. The food was delicious and the variety was never ending. We were catered to in every way in this hotel. There is no AC but we were there in mid- May so that was not an issue. We loved the private balcony from our room and we felt safe. The rooms are quiet and well kept. We will return to Grainau and will stay at this hotel again. Highly recommended - by far much nicer than other hotels in the area.

Room tip: Beautiful views - request room with a balcony
