“Superb Cave”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

We arrived by train to Zhangjiajie and went straight to this cave. We got the bus from town which only cost 1RMB on the number 1 bus. The price was 100RMB which i thought was a little expensive but i think it was totally worth it. I have been to a few caves in Vietnam and Laos but this was the most impressive. The cave is huge! It takes atleast a few hours to walk around. There is also a short boat ride towards the end. The cave is beautiful...a little busy...full of annoying tour groups as always. Although if you can understand Chinese or Korean you can listen in and learn abit about the cave.
Great little trip..the gardens around the cave are also beautiful to relax in. Highly recommend this.

“Huang Long Dong Caves”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

To visit this you need a few hours, coming by car from the city less than half a day, once inside you can enjoy the beautiful colors created by electric spots, there is one deeper part where you have to buy additional tickets to get in, but it is worth doing that.

“Worth a Visit”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

While not a world class cavern it is still worth a few hours of your time. If nothing else, you will be well exercised when you exit. I would not recommend the cave for those with limited walking or stair climbing abilities.

I enjoyed the lighting and features. While some say they appear staged, they are still well done and interesting. The underground boat ride was a nice break from the stairs.

I was not surprised, nor did I expect the guides to speak English. Guides in Luray Caverns, Carlsbad Caverns or Kartchner Caverns, etc., in the US do not speak Mandarin, so why should Yellow Dragon guides speak English?

Even if it is not on your "bucket list" I feel most people will enjoy the cavern and the displays, landscaping and features outside the cave. I know I did!

“Really nice cave”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

I've never been in a cave quite like this - yes it is staged in places but it is very vast and there are a lot of places to walk to. FIrst, you do not need to be with a guide. I walked in myself and it was easy. There were many guided groups and I walked away from them. THe cave is complex with three levels and yes, there can be many steps to climb. There is a boat ride too. I recommend climbing to the top as soon as you get in as this will send you in an opposite direction to the tour groups. And then you can walk along the top level and down to the boat, take the boat to the maze area and then exit.

“Pretty nice cave but somehow walked away a little underwhelmed.”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Don't get me wrong it is certainly worth a visit if you are in the area. Especially if you haven't been in a lot of caves. The underground boat ride was unique and very enjoyable for me. My criticisms are that there seems to be some gasoline fumes in the cave from the boats and most of the park employees smoke in the cave. Also the cave is pretty warm inside so you get pretty sweaty walking around inside. The scenery is pretty good but I have seen better too.
