Location
Hotel is located halfway between airport and downtown Changsha, just of the main highway. Downtown is around 20 mins drive & airport about 30 mins. There is nothing much around hotel to see or walk to, factories and apartment bocks etc.
Room
Room on top floor is a large spacious suite that offers combined lounge area & bedroom. A lot of room and very spacious but as a result not exactly cosy.
Bed though is comfortable & clean with easy to access light controls & power sockets either side- both USB and sockets connected to a box. Decent TV with sound that can be heard in bathroom, for international guests HBO & BBC is offered, rest is CCTV.
The lounge area offers a comfortable sofa & armchair as well as a small desk in corner. A coffee machine, mini bar is offered with only snack item being a snickers bar but plenty of drinks. There is a spacious open wardrobe room at entrance with large safe & plenty of hangers as well as robes and slippers are offered in there.
Bathroom has marble with no floor mats so is cold on feet, therefore slippers are recommend. Large circular bath as well as rain shower is offered next to window with a view of a factory. Full set of amenities by the brand Les Notes de Lanvin Orange with decent size mini bottles, same brand as seen in Sofitel.
Main issue with room is the temperature controls takes ages to warm up so found it a little cold & still had not reached 27c from 15c overnight. Only got to 19c. Fine for summer but winter can be cold in this city. Didn't help that room is presented with window open and outside is freezing.
Facilities
There is open WIFI that didn’t work too well in room, frequently drops, other times fast.
Catering include a coffee shop & all day dining buffet. Food quality is not up to western standards & breakfast lacked much appetising stuff. Ordered pizza from room service and came with no tomato sauce.
Leisure facilities include a 24-hr gym & indoor pool. Quite clean. There is also a SPA but did not try. However highly recommend ‘yeah come’ spa in the city which is the premium local style massage.
Staff
Staff don’t really speak English so a few language issues occurred. It’s more a premium Chinese hotel than an international hotel. Room service took over one hour & brought wrong food.
Overall room is nice and spacious but bring a jumper as quite chilly even with controls. It is very clean though.

My impressions were largely good for the Whiersly Hotel, and I particularly liked that it was convenient to get to from the airport. There are also a number of nice restaurants nearby and quite an undeveloped residential area.

Weak areas were the air conditioning in the room which could never cool down completely, then water for the shower which would never warm to a suitable level (cost cutting measure?). There were also issues with English abilities with the staff.

I was annoyed that you had to buy a swimming cap to use with swimming pool, and feel at the price of the hotel, this could have been provided in some form.

My absolute biggest annoyance was the breakfast. I came down late for this, but before the 10am closing time and there was nearly nothing available. Staff had even began cleaning away items. If customers pay for breakfast, then you keep a suitable amount of food available.

Despite this, many of the staff made a strong effort and hopefully the property irons out it's issues.

I stay for the second time in this hotel.
It is located outside of changsha centre about 20 mins drive from the airport.
The hotel is modern, clean and at a very good standard.
The breakfast has a huge selection of food, also for western people.
Rooms are of a very good size, even the standard rooms.

This is an excellent hotel in the business district and everything - staff , service, rooms and food are to the highest standards. All these made the short stay a pleasant experience and definitely I will recommend this hotel to visitors to Changsha.

Room tip: Higher floors offer good view of the city

Great hotel, with good food and really nice rooms!! The staff always do their best to make your stay as good as possible! Good room service! Good bar with good drinks! Hotel car is perfect if you want to go somewhere and don't use taxi! House keeping was also really good!
I will always stay at this hotel when I'm in Changsha!
