Spent a couple of hours on this wall. You can walk, go on a cart or cycle around the top of this wall. Was only going to stay at the spout where you go up but then decided to cycle. So pleased we did.as when we had stops and looked over the sides saw lots of different parts of the city. We went during the day and loved it. In the evening we wandered around part of the base and joined in with locals who come out and dance to music and have fun. The wall is lit up and looks majestic

We arrived in Xian in the late afternoon and were shocked by the cloud of pollution hanging over the city. We left for the city wall in the late afternoon and arrived just in time for the drum show which was very different. We then walked along the wall as the lanterns were coming on. We then went down into Calligraphy Street and walked along to the Muslim Street Market. The whole area is very atmospheric and deserves a few hours of just strolling aroung. The street market is very lively with loads of lovely food stalls. Great atmosphere.

Best time is to go in the evening and see the drum show at the base of the north gate....LOVELY EXPERIENCE. The wall looks lovely with all the lanterns and small watch towers lit up. The cycle hire is fun and easiest way to see most of the wall and the city.A experience not to be missed...but try and go in evening

Best historic attraction in Xiangyang, especially at night! There are pool tables along with river front, right in front of the temple/wall.

I recently rented a bicycle and rode around the city wall and I absolutely loved it. The wall itself provides a unique historical experience, imagining what it must have been like back in time long ago. Riding the bike around was great fun and you are able to easily see the entire place. I imagine many people start off walking around, only to wish they had rented a bike, and ending up stopping only partially completed. It would be a very long walk. The 100 minute renal period gives you just enough time to easily make it around and stop (briefly) at the may sites along the way. If you take a very leisurely approach with many extended stops it would be easy to go beyond the time. I would also recommend trying to receive one of the newer bikes, I was given what was clearly one of the older model's and the bike was very heavy, difficult to pedal, and the chain came off during the ride. One more thing, I recommend starting at the south gate, the bike rentals ( and the gate itself) are open the latest around the wall, so there is no rush on time if you go later in the day or around sunset.
