Owner description: MenaRick Vineyard and Winery is a family owned vineyard and winery located on 40 acres nestled in the foothills of the Yadkin Valley. We are a unique Yadkin Valley vineyard and winery specializing in Spanish and Portuguese varietals. We currently have 8 acres of vines planted, including Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, Albarino, Grenacha, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, plus a Vinho Branco and Blackberry and Peach wines. The MenaRick story started in 2006 with the purchase of the property in Ronda, NC-but our winemaking journeys started in California where Rick grew up and Mena in Portugal growing up around her family's vineyards. MenaRick is built from traditions and cultural experiences we had during our travels around the world. After planting our first 3.5 Acres of vines in 2008, we started planning and designing the winery and tasting room. Rick's years of building homes and doing construction was well-utilized in the new building which houses the winery and tasting room. We invite you to come, relax and enjoy the view from our vineyard, have a glass of wine (or bottle) and bring a picnic! Also, let MenaRick Vineyard and Winery host your intimate wedding, family and corporate events. Bem Vindo! Bienvendido! Welcome!

We stumbled across MenaRick during a recent trip to the Elkin area. While it may be a little off the "beaten path," it's well worth the trip from Elkin (which in honesty doesn't take nearly as long as it looks). The owners take great pride in making everyone feel at home by regaling guests with their stories of world travel, encouraging picnics, and passing on their accumulated knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese wines. The wine is the most unique in the area...it's unfiltered so it has bold flavors that you just can't find in most places. They have a lot of variety, so everyone should be able to find something they love. They were out of Tempranillo (a personal favorite), but Rick pulled some of the next vintage out of the barrel to give us a sneak peak. Who does that for people who just wondered in off the street? We'll definitely be back!

This is the best kept secret in the Yadkin valley. Avoid the crowds and over priced wine and go straight here. Mena and Rick are great hosts. The views are lovely while enjoying a picnic on the porch. And the wine! Rick really knows what he is doing. The wine is spectacular. Can't wait to go back for more!

All I can say, is this is an awesome same family owned winery that loves for you to visit. The owners are world travelers & love sharing their stories with you as they pour your tastings. You taste all their wines (not just 6), the glass is included, and I loved several of their wines. Especially the Albariño & their fruit wines are divine especially the Peach. You'll walk away with several bottles and the plan to return. Their outside area includes a fire pit, chairs & picnic tables. They encourage you to bring a picnic, buy their wines & relax. We will definitely be back. We've visited numerous Yadkin Valley wineries, large & small, and this is now our new favorite. The owners have built a unique & welcoming small tasting house that just makes you feel like you are at home.

Because of weather we could not take the blue ridge parkway. We drove a long ways down the road and finally found the winery. We drove in and discovered the tasting room was closed. The vintner surprised us and opened up just for us and entertained us with wonderful stories about his vineyard. His wife's parents have a family owned vineyard in Portugal. Thus this is where his vines come from. We will be coming back. He has several events during the year. If you are in the area be sure to stop. It is a great afternoon.
