We went here with a party of four and really enjoyed it. One of us had the oyster poboy which was outstanding. We also enjoyed the fish special and the scallop pasta dish. Great beer selection. Live entertainment was a nice bonus and we hung around to see the fabulous sunset. Service was friendly and on island time but so were we. We look forward to going back!

Our group of six tried to go to Good Winds in 2011, but they were closed and no reason given. This year we tried again, and glad we did. We went on probably their busiest night, Friday, when they have an all-you-can-eat fish fry. A couple of us got it, and the fish was terrific...not greasy, very tasty. Only one of us had a bad experience - fried shrimp that were way overcooked. Everyone else, very pleased. And their fries were plentiful and delicious, too. They have live music on Friday, and the room is a big open space, so it's hard to hear each other while the musicians are playing. There's a great view over the sound. Glad we gave them another shot.

I recently had a lunch and a dinner at Good Winds. In my opinion, the food was good, but not outstanding. The servers were very pleasant and attentive. If weather permits, get seating outside & enjoy the sunset over the sound.

We ate dinner at this restaurant this evening and couldn't be happier. Our large group of 10 (6 adults, 3 children, and 1 infant) was seated promptly and the service was outstanding. Our waitress took the time to talk to our kids and made them feel welcome. The food was outstanding and we got plenty of refills. Everybody really liked his/her meal and the fries rank among the best I've ever had. I highly recommend the fish tacos, hamburger, and the Super Grouper sandwich. We'll definitely be back!

Always stay in Rodanthe, and make a trip to the NH area for a dinner with a view. This time, we decided on trying Good Winds and we are glad we did. This will be our go to dinner with a view from now on.

The views were great. It sits on top of the Kitty Hawk Kites building (entrance to the left of the KHK entrance). Never ending views of the sound. Inside seating, as well as picnic tables out on the deck although I don't know if you can get served out there or not.

The food was great. Two of us had the prime rib special which was very flavorful, was told the crabcakes were the best eaten in the OBX (looked big to me too), and the other in my party had a pasta that was also tasty. All the portions were fine, and everything about all our meals was tasty.

The staff was nice and attentive. It wasn't crowded while we were there, but everything came out timely and all our drinks were always full. There was a lady walking around (maybe the owner) checking on the quality of food/service and she was very friendly.

The prices are what you'd expect for dinner on the OBX. Comparable to places we like in the NH area (Tale of the Whale and Miller's Waterfront), actually a bit cheaper with the prime rib special. They are having specials everyday throughout the summer, take a look.

Good Winds doesn't seem to get a lot of talk in the OBX, but it's most definitely going to get our return business and I recommend you go too.
